Sheena delivered a big black beautiful boy this morning at 1:20 am. The monitor worked perfectly. We were able to stay in the apartment until the water broke then go right into the stall area to watch.
This was Sheena's first foal and this colt is big. Mike was called to assist just in case she needed a little help and guess what we felt she did.
Becca stayed the night to be the gofer as in go for hay, go for the manure fork... we were glad she was there, she assisted in every aspect of this birth.
We stayed in the barn until the colt was up and Sheena had delivered the placenta. The colt is strong and healthy. I need a bigger barn though. We have 3 more to foal for May and a week of rain predicted.
