Step 4

Rhoda, Emily and I went to Hog Trough for breakfast this morning before heading in to Peoria to work on Bibles. There was not much food in either the apartment or the house for breakfast. After bringing up 10 boxes of Bibles we left for Aldi in East Peoria to refill the fridge and cupboards. The bill came to $74.36 cents and my brand new just activated debit card was swiped to pay but..it was denied. The checker tried it again and again it came back wrong pin number. Thankfully I had Mark's card so we didn't have to put the groceries back. Instead of heading home we stopped at CEFCU to see if they could fix the problem with the card and yes they can by sending me another in a week or so. Guess I won't be shopping for a while.
After the groceries were put away Rhoda and Emily hooked up the 2007 Keifer Built trailer, then started fence repairs. I love the way they fixed the outdoor arena, hopefully tomorrow will be nice and we can get Rachel's colt over here for pictures and a video. That boy is SO impressive.
The trailer needed to be taken to Vachon's for inspection. This is step 4 out of 6 steps to get the trailer licensed. Step 1 was to purchase the trailer, step 2 was to fix the damage, step 3 was to arrange with the rebuilder to get the salvage title changed to a rebuild title. Step 4 was to get it inspected (it passed) Step 5 will be to get an appointment to get it inspected at the state facility in Springfield (they do a check for stolen parts) and the final step will be to pay the state of Illinois for a new license plate.
Vachon's was called and they recommended coming after 1:00 pm so I had about a half hour of free time. I grabbed the camera to take a few pictures of the foals. Below is Zalena's colt by Valiant with Holly in the background. He is such a show-off. Check out that long upright neck, short back and nicely rounded rear end.
He really has perfect conformation and is a wonderful example of what a Friesian colt should look like.  Holly's filly by Valiant is pictured below.
After dinner Emily helped with teasing mares. Both Emma and Lily are still in. Today is the 6th day, they were covered, so we are hoping they will be out tomorrow. Still no sign of Sangria or Sheena coming in. It was another cold miserable day with the temperatures low 50s, wind, and light rain most of the day.
Mark's been repairing things all evening. He fixed the 3 smoke detectors and rehung them. Actually he brought those in from outside incredulously asking, " Why were these left out in the rain?" They were still chirping while Rhoda and I were talking bothering us so put them out on the patio table and shut the door. He next repaired the extra bright reading lamp for the family room and his last job was to tighten the toilet paper roll holder in the downstairs bathroom. Now he can rest and now I can start another book.
