3 Out of 4

What a long hot day.  Almost all of the day was spent working outside. Mark had Eric and Joey Christensen help with cleaning out our gutters and then fencing.  I got Rosaleigh covered by Evan then started bringing in mares. Dr. Hoerr was due around 11:30 am but that didn't happen.  As I had so very many mares to bring in today most were put in the indoor arena and just 2 were put in stalls.  Karin took Sangria and had Ellie take Tori out on the trails.
As soon as they got back they took those two mares over to Joan's house and swim them across but first needed to get their suits on.  Braelyn, Taegan and Kensley were at the beach swimming. Below Braelyn is coming over to the golf cart but stopped under the willow tree.
While we were waiting for the horses to start swimming a helicopter flew right above us.
Karin was riding Sangria and Ellie Tori when they started out but Ellie wasn't quite experienced enough to know how to ask Tori to swim.
She got her front feet in the water but then Tori would turn and head back to shore.
Karin had Ellie ride Sangria and then she had no problem getting Tori in the water.
Below is a short video of their swim across the lake.

Dr. Hoerr arrived around 3:00 pm and drew blood on 5 horses for their Coggins tests before staring the ultrasounds. Zalena, her filly Legend, Lily's filly Mitzamaya, Hadassah and Star were the horses for the Coggins tests. Next was the ultrasounds.  Zalena was bred to Evan and confirmed in foal and is due May 15th, 2020. Zalena is also for sale as a 2/1 package for just $8000.00. That is TWO purebred Friesians for that price.  Lily was next and she too was confirmed in foal. Lily was bred to Valiant and is due June 1st, 2020.  Tori was also confirmed in foal. Tori was bred to Evan and is due May 27th, 2020.  Galena was our one disappointment. She was bred to Valiant but came up open. Dr. Hoerr gave her a shot to short cycle her. We are to tease her in 3 days.  Next were the mares we just bred and wanted to see if they ovulated. Rosaleigh was first. She was covered this morning and then by the looks of her ultrasound ovulated late this morning.  Madiera had also ovulated but her's showed it was a day or two ago and she was covered 2 days ago. Sheena ovulated yesterday and was covered on Wednesday. Perfect timing for all 3 mares. Below are a few pictures of the mares and foals waiting for the vet.

Ben and Tauyna and their 4 children arrived all the way from Texas while Dr. Hoerr was working on sonagramming the mares.  When he finished up Addyson helped me put all the mares away by driving me from the barn to each paddock as I led the mares.
Addyson is a good golf cart driver. I now have 3 grandchildren that know how to drive the golf cart, Addyson, Braelan and Taegan. Now I can send them on errands around the neighborhood.
We all headed over to Phil and Anna's house for dinner tonight. Not only did we celebrate the return of the Texas Sceggel's we also celebrated Iris, Anna and Mark's birthdays.

Below is a short clip of the girls singing happy birthday.

Below are a few pictures of the evening.

The cousins all have a good time playing together. The littlest of them all just turned 4 months old today.
As soon as we got home from Phil and Anna's laundry was started and dishes done.

  1. What a wonderful, caring family you have! Such an idyllic place for a child to grow up in. I know the work is incredibly hard and at times heartbreaking, but how blessed you are to have your own little slice of Heaven on earth. Especially in the crazy, confusing times in which we are living.
