We Have Waxing

I tried to surprise the ladies on the walk today about the new colt but they were so interested in talking I finally had to tell them to come INTO the barn.  Everyone had to admire Soul's handsome new colt.  Mike came and fixed the two waterers that were leaking so I was a little late for work today not arriving until 9:00 am. There were already 3 cars with volunteers in them waiting to start work. If you would like to read about our morning there click HERE.
As soon as I got home of course I had to run up to the barn to play with Soul's new colt. He is just perfect. Long legs, short back, well set on long neck and HAIR. His tail is so thick and long for a newborn but then Evan is his sire and Soul is his dam.
Check out the picture below for a better look at that long bushy tail.
After school got out Karin arrived with Livy and Emma, two of Chad and Julie's daughters. They had to 'help' me with pictures of the colt.

Karin took them over to the cabin field where they had to first catch their horse, then groom their horse then work on tacking up the horse. Karin gave them a little help with tacking but the rest they did by themselves. While they were busy grooming I got 5 Quest Plus de-wormers and de-wormed all the cabin field horses.   Below Studly is patiently waiting for the ride to start. He loves going on the trail rides.
Today Livy wanted to try to ride Sally as she rode Cookie the last time.
Emma wanted to ride Cookie as she rode Missy the last time.

Karin agreed they could try and she rode Missy but told Livy if she had trouble she would have to switch and ride Missy.  The ride went well.
Ripper really wanted to go with them and even though Bunni was in the pasture with him he still ran and called hoping they would come back for him.
Ripper is such a funny gelding. He is very attached to 'his' mares and tries hard to keep up with them.
After supper Mark wanted to put the new finish mower on the small Kubota so the two of us went up to the barn to get that job accomplished. We are not very talented in that so it took us a while to get it on right.
Mark went right out to start mowing not that we needed to mow or anything.
I cleaned up Soul's stall then went to check on Rosaleigh and was thrilled to see she is now waxing. Her stall was prepared and she was also brought in. Hopefully she will have an easy quick delivery and a healthy foal. Then these two mares can raise their babies together. I really feel Rosaleigh is the prettiest Friesian mare we own.
Her foals by Evan are truly spectacular. This foal will be the full sibling to the one pictured below.

I'm up at the house watching on the monitor but Rosaleigh is totally relaxed, no pacing and no sign yet of labor. She really isn't due until May 8th.
