She brushed out Valiant's tail and just had to take a couple pictures of it.
She also checked the mares and reported that Rosalie is waxing. We KNOW she is waxing, she has been for the last week and still no baby. We arrived home at 3:30 pm. I checked all the mares then took the golf cart over to the cabin field to check on the foals. All was well. When I got home I checked the weather and for tonight and tomorrow we are expecting 100% chance of SNOW, HEAVY wet snow mixed with wind and rain with temps in the low 30s. The golf cart was taken back over to the cabin to bring the mares and foals inside. The foals are just too young to be left outside in that kind of weather. Anna and her colt Luka were taken first to a stall and Luka haltered and all four legs picked up and handled. He was just about perfect for that. They were then taken to the indoor arena where those two will spend the night. His owner was sent a text to report his good behavior and she sent back the picture below of him. She is making an album and this is the cover. I love the lighting on this picture.
Next Hadassah and her filly were brought over and stalled. The filly was also handled, she didn't do as well as Luka but hasn't had as much handling since she is just 4 days old and I was gone yesterday. These two were left in the stall as Hadassah won't let Anna or Luka near her filly. Rosalie was taken to the other foaling stall. She is perfectly content just standing quietly so obviously not in labor. Tomorrow Karin is coming in and will help me test her. Karin worked at Middle Grove yesterday and felt like she was in heaven. The horses were well behaved and beautiful. Mike opened the gates and all of the herd were in the middle pasture enjoying the abundant grass. Karin was working with a mare when a big herd of deer came bounding through the field, the deer stopped and looked at the horses while the horses were looking back at the deer when a huge buck came strutting up behind the deer. Wow what a sight.
The last trip up to the barn was at 8:00 pm just as the rain snow mix is starting to fall. We sure are ready for winter to be over.
