Christmas Caroling
Somehow today I was able to fit two feedings in for the horses and move Tatiana and her filly into the weanling paddock. Yesterday they were put in their own paddock but Tatiana is not sharing her grain with the filly. The weanling paddock has 6 buckets up. Hopefully the filly will get curious enough to reach into one and taste it. Each time she tried yesterday Tatiana pushed her away. We left for church at 9:15 am. Tim Funk had the morning service and Mike Rieker had the afternoon service at church. Right after church I peeled 8 pounds of potatoes and got them on the stove heating up while I was doing the second feeding. The potatoes were ready for mashing about 10 minutes before it was time to leave. They were finished the minute we needed to leave. Mark carried them out to the car while I carried the two kinds of salad's for the dinner at church. This evening was the all church Christmas caroling and we were to meet at church at 4:20 pm to divide up into 3 groups. Our group went to 4 places. The first place we sang was for Bernice Hauk. She is 106 years old and has her 107th birthday coming next month. We had a big group come with lots of children singing and the singing sounded good. Bernice's family had a cookie for each singer. Joan had 2 of our grandchildren in her van with her children and she reported that they sang during the drives to each place. The next place we drove to was the Veteran's home, then Teen Challenge in Pekin and finally to the South Side Mission. From there we went back to church where Diane, Mike and Cheryl had the meal all ready for the singers. We were the first group back but the other two groups came pretty quickly. The food was delicious and the fellowship even better.
