Karin was one of the speakers for the mother daughter banquet held at the Methodist church in Maquon. The church was full. We were invited to look at the many quilts laid out in the sanctuary before heading to the fellowship hall where the men served the dinner. I sat next to a 46 year old lady from Peoria that has never missed this dinner for (get this) 46 years. Her grandmother was a member of the church and started taking her as a baby and now she is taking her daughters. Karin was the first speaker after the dinner.
She had everyone laughing telling them first she wasn't a mother but had along with her mother 7 older sisters that insisted on mothering her. She ended with a couple of verses from verse from Isaiah 49: Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet I will not forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands;
She reminded us that the only thing Jesus took from earth back to heaven were the scars, then held up her hands.
Steven spent last night at the apartment on foal watch with Marika. Marika is progressing and was testing between 200 and 250 by the time I arrived home from the banquet. I really believe tonight will be the night she delivers, unless she goes earlier. Mark is organizing everything for the annual work day at mom's while I'm taking off for Stephanie's baby shower.
