Time to Turn on the Furnace

Even though the sun is shining bright it is COLD with a mean bite to the wind. The wood burner is not yet piped up through the ceiling meaning live in the cold or turn on the furnace. Mark tries to hold off until November before that awful action so after he left for work that most important little button on the thermostat was moved to HEAT.
Yesterday while at Middle Grove Steven counted 11 horses left out there.

There is still plenty of grass and we have ordered 20 round bales for that farm planning on keeping most of those there until the creek freezes over or a heavy snow cover. Middle Grove is a perfect horse habitat for the young ones as long as we leave some of the older more experienced horses out with them. Sangria and Lily share the job of bossing the herd.
Dr. Hoerr is scheduled for sonagrams today. Ylse, DaMita, and Izadora will be checked for pregnancy and Zalena given a reproductive exam to make sure she will be ready to breed either late this year or early in 2012.
Dalia is leaving the farm for her new home in Maryland around November 10th and needs a new coggins.
I must take a trip in to Peoria today, credit card applications need to be processed at Meisters and dog food picked up at Sams.
Today feels like a good hot soup day so perhaps a chicken will be picked up also for a big pot of chicken and wild rice soup that will simmer for a few hours spreading that wonderful fragrance throughout this small apartment. If anyone is driving out this way there will be plenty to share, feel free to come in a take some home.
