SOLD and SOLD

 The big news today is Tatiana's filly AND Soul's filly are now sold. I was out at the barn really early to check on Tatiana's filly and was pleased to see no wet tail. In other words it looks like she did not have diarrhea during the night. I wasn't convinced though so put them in the indoor arena while I cleaned their stall checking everything. Jewel's udder is still down and no new waxing. There was just a drop of clear colostrum on one teat. Jewel was put back out in the paddock,  then I left for the walk. After the walk I went straight to the barn,  brought Tatiana and her filly in the stall then got a bucket of warm water and a big rag and started washing off her tail and legs. Once that was done I moved a chair in the stall, turned on the ac central app on my phone and just sat listening to Fred Witzig while watching for about an hour and a half. She nursed about every 20 minutes, urinated 4 times during that time and no diarrhea.  She played in her mom's water bucket, slept both standing up and laying down and acted like a perfectly normal day old foal.

I did not call the vet clinic. 

My next job was to get the skid steer out to finish Evan's paddock. I finished moving out manure then moved in 4 big bucket loads of clay in the shelter. Just as I finished up Karin was here getting ready for their trip to Sand Ridge State Forest. Below they are getting ready to load. The horses have all been hosed off then tacked up as it was hot today.

After they left a round bale was moved into Evan's shelter and he was moved over to his own paddock. Hadassah and her 2 day old filly were put in the paddock Evan had been in which we call Ribbon's paddock. This paddock opens up to the back field which makes it nice for mares and foals.  The next job was to tease Lily and she is now out. She and her filly were put in the field behind Evan's paddock then Jewel moved over with them. Soul was the next mare to be teased and she also said no. It has been 21 days since she was covered so hopefully she settled. After putting her back I noticed the geese family on the pond so get some better pictures of this mixed family. 

Notice the 4 yellow goslings behind their older sibling. This really is unusual. 

They are all healthy and doing well. This afternoon, the two pair from the big lake came over to join them with their 10 goslings, 5 for each pair. Nice to see that all 3 pair have not lost any of their goslings. Soul's filly was brought inside for a haltering, tying and hoof picking up lesson. Now that she is sold I need to keep working with this on her. She wasn't too happy but by the end of the session she was allowing me to put on and take off her halter with out a fuss. The trail riders made it back while I was still up at the barn so I watched them unload. First out was Oksana.

Next came Sangria.

Ripper was 3rd and is just SO funny. He decided to launch himself from half way still inside the trailer instead of just stepping forward then down.

Notice Isaiah laughing, he wasn't the only one that was laughing, we all burst out in laughter watching him.  When Ripper launched, he went straight up thinking the step was much bigger than it really was.

Mika looks like he is jumping but the next picture shows how well be unloads.

It is just a big step up.

Karin reported the horses all did great and the trail ride was a lot of fun.

When I came inside Mark was home and getting ready to take the skid steer over to the dam to start leveling the dirt so grass seed can be planted. I drove Diane, mom and Mark to church tonight and wanted to get there a little early as David asked if we would take Elisabet since he was teaching and Stephanie was at Israel's baseball game.

Jewel sure throws beautiful babies. Olivia was born August 30th, 2011. Below is a baby picture of her.

She was beautiful then and is even more beautiful now. Jewel is back in the stall tonight and we are still waiting for full sibling to be born. 

Full Day Addyson's Recital

 My day worked out but at one point I wasn't sure how everything was going to get done. Thankful for Karin and Isaiah's help with picking up Tatiana and her new filly. Mom and I left the Berean office at 11:30 am. IF you would like to read about our morning there click HERE. We drove to church first to pick up 2 dozen eggs from Tina then to mom's house to drop off the eggs and let Molly and Chewy out for a few minutes. Within 10 minutes we were back on the road stopping first at the Hanna City post office to drop off 33 Bibles then to mom's eye doctor appointment at the IL Eye Center on Route 91. I was not able to go inside with mom as they still have strict Covid rules so once she was inside the building I just parked the car and did some shopping on my phone. Diane found a really nice queen size electric blanket on sale for $41.36 and that included tax and shipping. She thought it may not be a very good blanket but when it came she was very impressed. She sent me the link and I ordered 2 of them. The total bill came to $82.78. When mom was done she came out with sunglasses. Both of her eyes were dilated and she could not see very well. We made it home around 2:00 pm and she went in to rest. I headed out to the barn to see the new filly, fill water buckets and put in hay. She is a little scrawny but that is to be expected at 18 days early.

The next job was to call the mares and foals in from the pond pasture. Below is Lola's colt. He is ALWAYS glad to see people and one of the first to arrive at the fenceline.

I didn't have a lot of time before Anna picked mom and I up for Addyson's recital so brought Jewel in too as it was going to be dark by the time we got home. 

I didn't see any waxing tonight. What I did see though is Tatiana's filly has loose stools. She will need to be watched closely and more than likely I'll need to call the vet clinic and haul her in tomorrow for IV fluids. As she was born at Middle Grove and not in a controlled environment I'm not exactly sure if she ingested something bad.

Taunya got anyone that wanted to go tickets for the recital we arrived at 5:30 pm and found the parking lot already full. The place was packed. .IT was a fun evening there watching all the different routines. 

After the show we took a couple pictures then headed for the Dairy Barn in Eureka.

We celebrated with Ice cream.  I only videoed Addyson's routine and placed it on youtube only to find the song had a copyright claim and it is blocked. BUT if the song was muted they will allow it on so hopefully the video will still play. The song they did this routine to was by the Help by the Beatles. SO if you have that song, just play it along with the video. 

Tatiana's SURPRISE

 Mike called as mom and I were on the way to Berean only my phone was in my purse all the way in the back of the car. When we got to Berean I sent a text to Mike who had called and imagine my surprise when this picture arrived by text.

Tatiana had given birth 18 days early to a FILLY! As I was at Bereans and from there needed to take mom to her eye doctor appointment Karin and Isaiah were both sent a text asking if they would go out to pick them up. When I got home late this afternoon they were safe in the stall. The filly is nursing well, Tatiana has delivered her placenta and both are fine. 

She still has that sticky meconium on her tail and back legs which I will need to clean off in a bit.

I'm very thankful for another easy delivery and another healthy foal. Just Jewel, Madiera, Rosaleigh and Indy to go for 2021.

Most Unusual

 After the excitement this morning of Hadassah's new filly,

 moving a bale in for the mares and foals, teasing and covering Lily, I was ready to start the day by driving to the Peoria Post office for the Berean mail then to Kroger to pick up a dessert. I stopped at Anna's on the way home to drop off a muck bucket Ruth brought this morning for our walk and said Philip left it at their house. Anna was busy baking cookies for the next airbnb guests coming in tonight.  The muck bucket wasn't Phil and Anna's so more than likely is Ben's. That was put back in the car and the soccer ball put in the bucket. Tomorrow we well take both to Addyson's recital. Anna said that as soon as the girls were done with their chores she would be bringing them over to swim. Rhonda's brother Tom was here grooming the horses and he was more than willing to help move the riding horses to the cabin field. We took 3 trips of 2 each. 

Mika and Ripper were taken together, Missy and Sangria were taken together. Below those 4 are busy smelling any for manure to see who was using their field.

Ripper has to check out anything new. He was very curious about such a strange looking barn.

By this time the girls were here. Six year old Kensley drove me over to mom's on the golf cart. She is getting pretty good at driving. Rebekah was already here with Jordan, Riley and Blair. Jordan, Riley and Blair will be welcoming home a new sibling in December.  Rochelle came over on the canoe to join the kids.

Mom's flowers are blooming beautifully.

She was busy watering them, then went to pick strawberries from her strawberry bed when her walker got away from her. Thankfully Rebekah was there to rescue the walker and bring it back. I headed back to start working on Evan's paddock. The skid steer was put to work for this job and I almost finished it. Tomorrow IF I have time I'll take some of that pile of clay on the barn site from the holes and put it in Evan's paddock to replace some of the clay taken out with the manure today. Jewel is now waxing, not heavily but at least some progress was made from last night. She was brought into a stall for the night. Hadassah with her new filly are in the stall across the aisle and Hadassah is just sure Jewel is going to try to steal her baby. I have them on the monitor and have been watching Hadassah pin her ears and hearing her squeal each time Jewel looks over. The filly is doing great. I applied iodine to her cord but by this afternoon it is already dry. Tonight she was trying to gallop around her mama. Jury, Lola and Soul decided to head over to the other side of the pond but before they left Jury's colt came over for attention. He is such a handsome boy.

Lily and her filly were brought in from the field and 

put back in the breeding shed paddock for the night.

On the way back to the house I noticed the geese pair had hatched out goslings. I ran in to get the camera to take pictures of these little just hatched goslings. When I got back I noticed something most unusual about the.  4 were obviously hatched today and one of the goslings looked to be a week old.

It was getting dark and they were across the pond so I couldn't get clear pictures but for sure one is much bigger than the other 4.

At one point we had 2 nesting pairs on this pond so perhaps the bigger gosling was from the other nest. The other pair has not been seen for a while. Almost always the goose will lay an egg a day and then set once she is done laying, this way all the eggs hatch on the same day. The eggs laid first do not start to develop until the goose sets on all of them. How this gaggle ended up with one large is a mystery.

Hadassah's Filly by Evan

 Hadassah gave birth this morning around 5:20 am to a black filly out in the paddock. When I discovered them around 5:50 am the filly was still very wet but had gotten up and was trying to nurse. Hadassah wasn't due until June 7th, and her udder was not swollen and waxing so this was a surprise to me. They were brought inside a stall and by 6:10 the filly was nursing well. I believe this filly will stay black as the last 4 that were born this color stayed black. Below are pictures taken right after I got them in a stall.

I needed to head down to the Peoria post office to pick up the Berean mail but took these after I got home.

The morning was to busy to take any decent pictures. I had to move a bale in for the far shelter and will need to lock the mares off the pond pasture soon. After our walk, Joan who is leaving tomorrow for her big trip to Yellowstone, needed to give some instructions for the camping trailers and sent the bedding home for the Wolf Pup. That was taken on the golf cart. We had a good walk, stopping first to see the new filly.
