Coming back to the house I looked across the pond and noticed the color around the pond. If we would have had our usual snow this would all be white, grays and dark browns. This is looking at over at the far end of the pond. There was no breeze at all to ripple the water.
A blue Jay pair were harassing some of the other birds. These are not nice birds but very beautiful.
We usually have a bunch of cardinals that hang around the same area but all of them were in hiding when the Jays came.
Diane and mom came over for a walk this sun shiny cold day. We did our usual rounds joined by Miss Molly, Eby, Emma and Studly. Then on the way back Rhonda called to report Studly ran off with her cat bowl. Sure enough he dropped it on the drive so Diane took it back.
Mark and I took the road scraper off the tractor and put on the log splitter. It feels like time to start splitting wood for the wood burner. We loaded the porch with logs and Mark almost filled the lean to. We still have a mountain of logs to split. When we came back inside there was Emma with the empty cleaned out, licked out chocolate cake pan. Chocolate is very bad for dogs, it can actually kill them and Emma ate the rest of the cake which was more than half a cake but she is fine..fat but fine.
Mike and Diane went to Middle Grove, Mike put up t-posts around the bales by the road and restrung the electric fence. Yesterday there were deer tracks all around the bales so I'm surmising a herd of deer ran through it earlier then the horses discovered it was open and helped themselves. The horses are very respectful of the electric fence. When Mike got back he fixed Valiant's waterer. The evening was spent lazing by the glowing wood burner.
