We had nice weather for our walk today, mom had been pretty sick yesterday but felt well enough to walk one round. I'm always disappointed when she drops out the other girls really step up the pace and I have to huff and puff to keep up. They think we are doing this for the exercise!
As I was pulling out to go to work I could hear the roar of rushing water even through the closed car windows. The camera was pulled out to snap of picture of this roar coming from the melting snow.
The pond overflow was shooting the excess way up before it came crashing down. If it hadn't been so muddy I would have walked down for a better picture. The picture above was taken from our drive which is a long way from this 8 inch pipe. We had a tremendous amount of mail today for Berean.
We had some good volunteers and they all pitched right in opening and processing the mail.
Ellen gave us 300 Bible stamps but wasn't able to get the 20 rolls of first class stamps by the time we picked up the mail. Well we realized before lunch we were for sure going to run out of the first class stamps. Ellen was good enough to bring them over. Below Diane is so thrilled to see the stamps she is giving Ellen a hug.
We all left for lunch just after noon. On our way to Pekin Rhonda called reporting there were 2 Friesian horses running down Hanna City Glasford blacktop. None of us were there, so I called Mike, he just happened to be in Peoria. Meanwhile Rhonda called back to say they were stallions and were fighting something terrible in the middle of the road entertaining the neighbors and everyone else that drove up. Rhoda and Emily were given my keys and left from Pekin to go help. Can you imagine driving down a country road and coming upon 2 big black stallions in the middle of a fight? The neighbor was able to get one of the stallions and put him in his barn. The other one ran back to keep fighting with the 3rd stallion. Joan was called and came over quickly with Hannah where they were able to catch one stallion and tie him up in the barn then shut the other in a paddock, but she wasn't able to tell me on the phone which stallion she had tied up, which was in the neighbor's barn and which was in the paddock. Rhoda and Emily arrived to find it was Valiant tied up, Evan in a paddock with 3 mares and Killian over at the neighbors. They cleaned up Valiant, checked him over and cleaned up his few scrapes. They were able to fix his paddock pretty quickly so he could be put back. Evan's paddock needed a bit more repair, they needed to fix fence and a gate. He was pulled out and hosed off and was not happy at all, even kicking out when they were hosing him off to check over all of his wounds. He had much deeper bites and one bad kick mark on his shoulder. He was put away and they walked over to get Killian. The neighbor man was happy to have helped and said, "I really like this horse, he can come visit any time." It looked like Killian came out the worst of the fight. He had bite marks on his lips and face and lots of bite marks on his haunches. He was cleaned up and furazone was applied to his many open cuts. Rhoda and Emily went back to check on Evan and discovered now that the adrenalin was gone he was not putting any weight on his right front leg. He was given banamine to relax the muscles. By this time it was after 5:00 pm and the vet clinic was closed. I'll call tomorrow if Evan is no better.
We needed to move 2 new bales in, one for the middle paddock and one for Ribbon's paddock. Emily left for Hopedale, IL and took the camera as she is going to a house that has an 18 month old Evan son. She is hoping to get some pictures for the website. We left for choir and just now got in. Evan is laying down and I didn't want to make him stand to check him out. I'll let him rest and hope he feels better tomorrow. Please pray for that boy that nothing is broken.
