Bringing Home the Mares

I had a relaxing day at home and spent most of this beautiful sunny warm day working outside with the horses. The first mare and foal out were Indy and her filly by Evan. They were taken into a stall, groomed, the filly given some handling instructions then taken to the outdoor for a few pictures. Indy was so excited to be out of the mud and into the sand she exploded. Check out her mane in the picture below.
Her filly decided that looked like fun and joined in the race at one point over taking mom and getting right in front so she would have to slow down.

They were put in the big field while Star and her filly were brought out but of course what is the first thing a horse does in the field? Have a good roll in the grass.
Star and her filly were just put straight into the field with them. Star's filly put on quite a show galloping, bucking and rearing around the 2 mares.
This filly loves to dance. Did I mention she is for sale? We are asking $4000.00 for her. We will register and DNA her with Friesian Heritage Horse as soon as she is named. She is a very sweet filly.
They finally all settled down to graze with the 2 mares on the outside and the 2 fillies on the inside. Star's filly was curious about Indy's filly, but when she went sidling over to her Indy's filly let her know in no uncertain terms to stay on her own side. She is such a bossy foal, only 15 days old and lets everyone know she IS the princess of the farm. Check out that facial expression:

She reminds me of all of Lily's foals. Lily is the queen around here and Middle Grove and all of her foals fall right in that category, bossy alpha babies.
Mike, Diane and Emily left for Middle Grove with the stock trailer hauling Ribbon, Whitney and Ayanna out. They will bring back Prissy due April 7th, Lily due April 13th and Sangria due April 20th. Sheena due April 21st, is already here living at the cabin field. They also may bring back Soul to live at the cabin with her son Ripper so we can haul him back out to Middle Grove with a buddy. We never send a weanling out by themselves. After supper Mark and I moved a new round bale in the breeding shed where Indy and Star are living and a new bale in Ribbon's paddock where Prissy, Lily and Sangria will go now that those mares are gone.
