Deer Carcas

Today while driving up the farm drive a van was coming right at me which meant back up and go up the farm house drive. Driving around the farm house the first thing in sight is a black baby coming towards the car. I'm desperately trying to figure out which baby it is as the mares are all calm and all seem to be in their paddocks until a palomino mare comes in sight followed by a Haflinger. Rachel's horses have escaped and come over for a visit. As long as she was here, Sandy was walked over to Raven to see if she is in season but she was not interested so the three were locked in an empty paddock.

Rachel and her daughter Jessica will take them home later. We walked to the far paddock to check on the bale Steven put in yesterday just making sure the boards he put up are holding and that the horses are eating off that bale. While tromping through the snow back to that gate mom showed us her present from Tara (Spark's daughter) & her husband Jay Brenner.

Snow treads for boots what a GREAT idea!
Ebby, Diane's dog came up with a big deer bone in her mouth and carried it the entire first loop.
On the second loop, Emma came running up with a deer leg.
This was much bigger than Ebby's bone. Ebby waited until Emma was distracted, then ran as fast as her little legs could carry her and claimed the leg.
Emma was pretty heart broken about losing her leg until she found the bone Ebby had been carrying and claimed that for herself.
We are not sure where all the deer parts are coming from, must be a hunter shot a deer and dressed it out somewhere in the area for the dogs to find.
Mike is working on a design to feed out round bales without waste and without using a bale ring. He showed us his design and the consensus is this is going to WORK and work well.
It wasn't easy to leave the farm but work waited and I was only a few minutes late arriving at Meisters. We were able to get the studies processed by noon.
