Dinner at Ruth's

Yesterday afternoon Mark and I worked on the playroom floor in the basement. This floor was hardwood that a few years ago the girls covered with big squares of colored interlocking foam mats. The floor had been in bad shape and even when we were kids we would get splinters from playing down there. Our ping pong table and air hockey table is in that room and the company with kids liked to play in that room. Well we had so much rain this spring and didn't know the gutter from the roof and been disconnected this caused the water to rush into the dirt cellar under the front porch and flooded the playroom. The wood under the mats is now pretty much destroyed. We removed all the mats, threw the worst away, saved some and decided we are going to remove the entire wood floor, then decide what to place down. By the time we quit we were filthy!
David and Stephanie & Ben, Taunya and Addyson all stopped in for a visit.
We had been invited to a wiener roast in Metamora but with all the rain and mud, when Ruth called to see if we wanted to come for supper we jumped at the chance. She had a very nice meal prepared and we didn't even bring ANYTHING. Her pulled pork was excellent, the salad had real bacon, cheese, home grown vine ripened tomatoes, and lots of other delicious addins. She also provided olives, pickles, chips and when it came to dessert we were truly blessed. Annette Nimmo brought over a delicious apple cake made from her Jonathan apple tree with a home made butter syrup to pour over. Ruth supplied peanut butter or walnut ice cream and brownies. Her renters also came and brought another fudgie dessert. Everything was delicious after the cold rainy day.
Once home the truck and trailer still needed to be moved from the Bridlewood parking lot and backed into our drive.
Rhoda had a lot of fun at the show, she said Sangria was excellent at games and at ride-a-buck she came in second, Mikaya Cooksey WON it ALL!!! Couldn't have been won by anyone more deserving than her, she is such a hard worker. Rhoda said all the riders had a great time.
The kids invited us to Phil and Annas where they were all meeting but Mark and I chose to go to bed instead.
