The Goose Ranch hired us to provide horses today for their picnic. When Karin and I were hooking up the big trailer the sleet started falling. At that point we called Katie (Justin's wife) to see if we should cancel bringing the horses. We heard pretty quickly that we should bring them so the horses were groomed, tacked up and loaded into the trailers. We put Mika, Bunni, Sally, Cookie and Missy in the big trailer. Indy, Jenis, Larry and Paris went in the stock trailer. The sleet stopped but the day was very overcast and windy. Luckily the horses were down in a hallow keeping us mostly out of the wind. Below is Indy all tacked up waiting for a rider.
Tyler, Steven and Karin took Jenis, Sally and Mika on a quick gallop before our first group showed.
Phil brought Braelyn and Taegan out for rides.
The pony rides were held at director's point
The bonfire was most welcome. The heat from this huge fire could be felt all the way down where I and the ponies were working.
We started loading around 5:15 pm and pulled out of the Goose Ranch at 5:30 pm heading straight to Middle Grove to drop off 7 horses. I now have only 3 horses here to care for the other 36 are at Middle Grove. That adds up to 39 horses which I think is the right number. We were over 40 but lost Cheyenne and Bonnie to lightning then Tryn left today. Hopefully by winter we will be down to 34 if the rest of the foals sell.Mark got a lot of work done here while we were gone.
