OSF Cardiology

I really needed to get over to the barn early to clean if I wanted to go on the walk and made it over there just after 6:00 am. I stopped at 7:30 and went over to mom's but she was still sleeping as they had a late night. I stayed while Diane and Joan walked and was glad for the break. Anna arrived at the barn just as I was heading home to make breakfast. Mark just wanted left overs for breakfast so I was able to get over to the barn quickly. Anna was dropping off the bathmats and the small end tables she put together. I needed 3 extension cords so we could put a table on both sides of each bed upstairs. The end tables have a USB port plus an electrical outlet for someone wanting to charge phones or plug in alarm clocks. Mark left for Home Depot to pick up the 3 sets of blinds for the 3 upstairs windows and also bought the 3 extension cords. I needed to leave for the cardiologist appointment at 10:00 am and got there by the expected time of 10:30 am but a fire engine followed me into the parking lot and parked right in front of the building as I was walking in. I started up the stairs following one fireman with 2 behind me so pushed myself to keep ahead of them. I'm not at all competitive, I just didn't want to get in their way. It turned out the building had lost electricity and someone was sure they heard pounding in the elevator. 911 was called and the firemen worked to open the elevators manually. I found out later no one was in the elevators when they got the doors opened.
As they had no electricity they were just writing down names then calling us in order.  My name was called and I was led through a dark hallway to an even darker exam room. They had to skip the weigh in as the scale was electric. What a shame! Below I am waiting for the nurse in the dark room.
We used our cell phone flashlights when she arrived to take vitals. My blood pressure was 140 over 80 and I had to explain I had just run up the stairs to stay ahead of the firemen. I was glad it was dark, as Dr. Barzallo, Dr. Mungee's Fellow could not see my banged up bandaged arm and ask, "do you feel safe at home?" Instead he got right to work listening to my heart, my breathing then listened to me explain why I was there and after a nice discussion, some about family history with Spark and John, decided I must have a stress test, one they will put in radioactive dye so they can watch the heart as I run on a tread mill. Dr. Barzallo went out, spoke to Dr. Mungee, Dr. Mungee came in and asked, Who is your brother? and when I told him Paul Meister, he replied "I KNOW HIM WELL, he is the one when I walked out of the parking lot, got to the car and felt I had to go back in RIGHT THEN and take care of him." His anterior descending artery (the widow maker in our terms) was (I think he said) 99.4 percent blocked, he was telling this to the student and Dr. Barzallo, He also said he knows John when I explained John was life flighted from Farmington after having a heart attack. He agreed the nuclear stress test was necessary. Now we pray our insurance will cover that.  When I got home Mark was here with the 3 sets of blinds.
Anna came to install the blinds and had them done in record time.
I got the extension cords to work on the end tables then cleaned up the construction mess again in the bedrooms. I don't mind cleaning that up, it is just so wonderful to see the progress. Mark came over at 3:00 pm to check out everything done and agreed it looks great. We left at 4:30 pm to meet with Ralph and Jamie as next weekend they are hosting their 30th anniversary at the barn. We went over the menu, the number of guests coming, the decorations and by the time the meeting was over had a good idea of what would be needed for them. Jamie decided she wanted gold accents for the table service so once I got home I was able to order a set on Amazon which should be here in plenty of time.
Tomorrow I'll need to go to Costco to order the cakes. The rest of the food can be purchased either from Sam's or Aldi.
