Introducing Foxy

Beth had to go to the hospital today for another try at having dye put in her arm. This time Karin took her so she would not be left alone. All went great they had a machine to find a good vein that didn't blow.
Valiant and Evan were worked this morning. The round pen was just to hard this morning so both were worked in the indoor and I just can't get good pictures there. Below is Valiant once he was finished. As the ground is now frozen I let him out into the field. He had to go check out all the smells just in case someone else had been in his field.
Below are a few pictures of Evan's work session in the indoor.

He could hardly contain himself. Once he was put away the horses were all fed and by the time I got back in my hands and face were frozen. This afternoon MaryBeth dropped off Roxy. She is a 9 year old, tall, well built, bright chestnut, beautiful, registered Saddlebred mare. Check out her neck. She is fancy and knows it.
It isn't just her neck we were impressed with, her trot is huge.  Karin stopped in this afternoon, we took her to the round pen to see her movement and were both very impressed. Her regular trot is like an extended trot then her extended trot is not just open, she also has lift.
She has a few things to work on. She was afraid of the golf cart but will soon learn that is what brings the treats. MaryBeth said she doesn't buck, rear, or kick. After evaluating her, we were pleased she has a good foundation in round pen reasoning. Roxy was introduced to Evan, Jenis and Eliza this afternoon. It was such a nice sunny day of about 30 degrees and the paddock next to Evan's was empty. Evan thought she was gorgeous. Our plan is to breed her in the spring to Valiant.
Jenis and Eliza were curious about the new mare but not enough to hang around when there was still grass to nibble across the pond. Below they have just come out of the middle paddock and are heading toward the dam to get to the other side. Eliza is in front of Jenis.
Around 4:00 pm I finally tore myself away from the horses to get some grocery shopping done picking up a roast at Kroger for tomorrow's Berean meal. We had some beautiful pictures come in from Stacy, the owner of our Killian. Her daughter rode him in a big parade, Stacy said Killian did great and next year she is going to start him driving.

They are so happy with him. We are so thankful for the updates and the pictures. He has matured and looks great.

Lazy Sunday

I have a cold, bad enough that I didn't think it would be wise to spread these germs to the good people in church with all the sneezing happening. Mark took mom while I finished making the beef vegetable soup then listened on line. Mike Rieker had the morning service and it was a familiar chapter in 2nd Samuel where Dagon falls before the Ark. After the first service the horses were fed. The feeding is so easy now that we only have 6 horses here. Mike has his hands full as most of the herd is at Middle Grove. We will be adding to the herd here. Tomorrow a Saddlebred mare will be arriving. Her registered name is Owens' Ain't She Something. I'm not sure yet what her barn name is. She was born June 20th, 2007 so will be 10 years old in 2017.
According to the owner she is a maiden mare never bred, trained to ride for an experienced rider.
We are not sure yet why but I'm sure we will find out soon enough. She is being dropped off tomorrow.
She will be put in training and bred to one of the stallions in 2017. A foal out of her and Valiant would sure be flashy.
The afternoon service was Tim Roecker. Mark didn't come straight home, he stopped at HyVee for some fruit, vegetables and milk. He took some of the soup over for mom and Karin to enjoy. I had dished out a bowl but only ate a few bites when I decided to just give it to the dogs thinking it didn't taste very well but when Mark ate his bowl he went back for seconds, then mom and Karin called to report it really was delicious. I guess this cold has taken away the taste buds. Karin came over bringing a gift of a new Sunday coat, still in it's wrapper. This wasn't even garage sale. She found a good sale on them and bought a bunch and is giving them out before she leaves for Gulf Shores. Tonight was the all church Christmas caroling with supper afterwards. I missed that too. I'm heading to bed, it has been raining outside and now the temperature is dropping, Mark has a fire going in the family room and I've been drowsing on the couch most of the day.

Christmas Singing

We had a cold but busy morning. Titan was cared for then off I drove, first to deposit some checks then over to Dollar General to shop. We are so glad Dollar General opened a store right here in Hanna City. Finally we have a place to buy the necessities like deodorant, toothpaste, birthday cards and they even have food if you run out of something. I was looking for something specific that they didn't carry so drove all the way in to Pekin to the nearest Aldi.
Today Titan was picked up. His owners made it here just as the snow started. He followed them right into the trailer and stood quietly. Thankfully they are prepared to give this orphan a lot of individual attention. I admit to tearing up a bit as the trailer drove off. The last link to Ribbon.
John's family was busy butchering a steer and Karin went to help and brought back a nice gift of bones, big bones. They were so big that Mark had to bring in the battery powered sawzall to cut them up enough to fit them in my big pots. The blades were washed up first, just in case anyone was wondering. The bones were put on to boil.
Since we are going to be gone on Christmas day Karin picked up Nancy so she could get her stocking gifts early. Nancy had just come back from shopping and was wearing her brand new Christmas sweater which she was thrilled to show us.
She is also wearing the new hat mom gave her and holding her new gloves away from Studly.
If you ever wondered how sisters think alike, both Diane and I bought Nancy a nurses kit like the one we had when we were children. I was explaining before I gave it to Nancy this is something I ALWAYS wanted, when she opened it Diane exclaimed, "that's what I bought her." Oh how funny. our minds really do think alike. Tonight was Rachel's annual Christmas caroling around the manger scene. We were all invited and just about everyone attends, even those that have to drive a distance. Phil and Anna let me have the girls for this but Taegan fell asleep before it started so Mark took Braelyn over then switched with me so we both could enjoy the fellowship and goodies. By the time I arrived the laden table was a lot lighter but there was still plenty.
Braelyn was fascinated with the manger scene. She was busy decorating Mary with lots of mardi gras necklaces. There were lots of little girls there for her to play with, Joan had hers there, Spark and Rhonda brought over Tara and Jay's and John and Serena brought their two.
By looking at the picture below one would think there was plenty of room in the house but truly the house was full, there were people everywhere standing around talking, joking, and eating now that the singing was done.

Karin is leaving early for Gulf Shores, so David Sauder wanted to give her a gift before she left. A nice big coffee cup. Karin burst out laughing when she saw what was written. Thankfully this picture is not in focus.
By the time I took Nancy home the meat had pretty much fallen off the soup bones. The bones were set outside to cool in one big pot and the other was also set outside so the fat can rise to the top and be skimmed off tomorrow. This beef broth will make an excellent soup and the dogs will enjoy the bones. We are always thankful when someone in the family butchers.

Becca's Talent

Rhoda came this morning and helped get Titan cleaned up, he is leaving for his new home tomorrow. It was too cold to bathe him but we used the instant hot water heater to clean off his legs and some of his belly. Once the caked mud was off he was taken into the stall and the warming lamp turned on and then the hair dryer brought out. He was so good for all of this accepting pretty much anything we asked of him. He called a couple times for his buddy but we made the decision not to bring Arturo in as tomorrow Titan will need to travel without him. I'm watching him on the monitor now and he is eating and drinking quietly.
Becca Watson, one of our vaulters has taken that to a whole new level. She decided to learn trick riding and this last week was competing at the North American Trick riding competition held in Los Vegas with her pony Sage. We are thrilled to announce Becca WON THE SADDLE!
Becca writes: I am so grateful for all these amazing people in my life. I have been at the North American trick riding competition and I was chosen to honor Connie Griffith by receiving a saddle that is in her honor, Connie made over 100 saddles and gave them to people that were starting trick riding, a few of the adults that were at the competition chose me because I represented her and her honor. I will be forever grateful for these amazing people. Me and Sage ran our hearts out and it payed off!!
Congratulations BECCA! We are all thrilled for you. If you have never seen this type of riding you will now have a chance to right here in Illinois. Becca has agreed to showcase her talent and her pony Sage at the IL Horse Fair. She will be performing during the breed and sport demo's. It takes a special type of daredevil to ride at a flat out gallop doing crazy tricks and we can't wait to see her perform.

Frozen Water

Our first REAL cold blast hit last night with single digit wind chills this morning. Unfortunate every automatic waterer froze up except one. The 3 weanlings were moved into Ribbon's paddock and a new round bale put in plus 3 buckets hung for their grain. Mike was sent a text and before he left for work he had the middle paddock turned on and working. Jenis and Eliza are using that paddock. I left for the walk then to the Berean office to get there before the Bibles arrived. I was a little worried about unloading this pallet with the help of just the driver of the truck and was thrilled when Johnny Hoerr showed up just to help unload. To read about the rest of our morning there click HERE. Mike thought he had Evan's and Valiant's working but when I got home both of those were frozen up. Those two were each taken a bucket of water and the weanlings grained again. Then it was time to go in and warm up by making a fire in the wood burner. Dan arrived as that was happening. We had a nice visit but when he pulled away he had a flat tire. Poor Dan had to change the tire in that ferocious frozen wind. As soon as he left back out I went into the cold to give Valiant and Evan more water. We had one heated water bucket so Evan was given that. I went back out at 8:00 pm to give them more water but Mike was here installing a new heater on Valiant's. Evan's was next and Mike was surprised to see the element in that one had malfunctioned and melted a part. It had been replaced not too long ago. Thankfully Mike keeps plenty of parts and had another to install. Both should be working but I'll check first thing in the morning. Winter sure makes things hard around here.
While at the Berean office the word came that Jeanette Graham passed away in her sleep last night. She was such a special lady, of course the stories were flying on what she would do for people. Chuck told us that she would have a meal for all the widowers every year. Anna Lu told us of the cookies she would bake and give out. This amazing woman raised 8 children and so much enjoyed her 25 grandchildren. She loved entertaining and loved the Lord.

Foal Gallery

We had a brisk walk trying to walk fast to keep warm. Today was just plain cold, Emma kept trying to drink out of the frozen puddles, finally Joan took pity on her and broke the ice in one. After 1 round I needed to get moving to meet the Wednesday Berean workers. To read about our morning there click HERE. I posted a plea there but will also post one here. A pallet load of Bibles will be delivered tomorrow morning at 9:00 am at the Berean office and we Thursday workers could really use the help unloading.
After work I got both of our wood burners going. We have a pot bellied stove on the east side of the house and a fireplace with an efficient wood burning insert on the west side of the house. Enough wood was brought in to keep both going all evening.
Diane, mom and I went to church tonight. Tim Funk was the speaker. Always good to be there. One unusual thing though, Peoria has a boil order so no one could drink any water at church.
Tonight we had someone ask about breeding to one of the stallions and she was having trouble deciding which to choose. She sent this picture of her mare she calls Classy:
To make an informed decision on which stallion to use one should always look at that stallion's offspring.  Thankfully a lot of the owners are glad to email pictures of their precious foal.  It is always good to ask to see what a stallion throws so if you are thinking of breeding to a stallion ASK. We had one lady come to us after spending well over a thousand dollars to get her mare pregnant and only after spending that money did she find out the stallion had NO offspring. To see some of Raven, Valiant and Evan's foals click HERE. This isn't a complete gallery of foals but it is a lot.

Interesting Walk

The walk started out serious, mom was telling Joan about Beth's awful experience yesterday at the medical center on Allen road. Beth's iron level has been terribly low and the doctors wanted to do a test by putting dye in her veins to see if they could learn why. When the nurse was trying to put in the IV her veins kept blowing. Finally the nurse was able to get one in and the dye going, walked out shut the door and just then the vein blew open and the dye started flowing where it shouldn't be, it stung. Beth started calling and yelling but no one was in hearing distance and her arm started blowing up like a balloon. By the time the nurse came back, she took one look and was shocked. They rushed Beth to the hospital emergency room. Joan's daughter Sarah just happens to be doing a paper on EZ-IO technology which is to put a needle right into the bone, a life saving hydration procedure when a vein cannot be found or used. Sarah remembered helping a doctor with this right after the earthquake in Haiti so thought she would contact that doctor to get more information and found out this was the doctor that actually developed this procedure. She just knew him as Dr. Larry. He remembered her well and shared with her his post on that day. To read Dr. Larry Miller's experience in Haiti with Sarah as an interpreter click HERE. Sarah actually volunteered to have this done to her to show the Haitians it was safe.  Ruth then brought up mom's snowman and wanted to know exactly what mom was trying to portray. I can only show the head of this snowman, the rest seems to be x rated.
Mom explained the picture was taken after it had started melting. The arms fell off leaving two protrusions coming out of his chest but that wasn't all, somehow when the arms fell they landed on the lower part and formed 2 perfectly round spheres sticking out where they shouldn't. Mom was aghast at the picture which someone placed on facebook of course the comments were hilarious. Maybe she was trying to be politically correct and this snowman was a transgender? She was frantic to get it off Facebook before she was flagged as inappropriate but since she didn't post it, that couldn't be done. By this time we were all laughing so hard we weren't getting much walking done. Poor mom, it is just not something she would ever do but so funny that it happened to HER snowman.  Then Diane told us that Mike called her while she was at work last night to tell her he burned up the oven. When she asked how, he replied, "I put bacon in the oven then forgot it was cooking." the smoke alarm went off but by the time he got there, the entire inside of the oven was in flames. He turned it off and just let it burn, not daring to open the oven as the fire would spread. When Diane got home it looked pretty charred but she shut the door, locked it and put it on clean. This morning the oven is clean but the glass window is black. Amazing the oven survived. Ruth had to share her story, Fedi got tar on his pants and used gas to try to dissolve the tar then put the pants in the washer with her work clothes. When Ruth pulled them out of the dryer the entire load smelled like gasoline. She didn't have any others ready to wear so just sprayed fabreez all over them. Evidently the odor was very unusual. People around her at work kept asking, "What IS that smell?" Ruth kept moving so no one would realize it was coming from her.
I had to quit at just one round as today was Berean day. To read about our morning there click HERE.

Evan's Feeling Good

We had a slushy walk today in the mud and melting snow. The snow was beautiful while it lasted but most of it is gone by tonight.  Mark made the right call in not plowing. After the walk I had to run to a couple different stores, Dollar General for some birthday cards and Kroger for a few groceries to replace everything borrowed from mom over the weekend. Mom's house is just about as good as a store. We had the sickness hit the compound. Mark, Karin and Jessica all didn't feel well. Mark came home early and went pretty much right to bed. Karin slept all morning but felt a bit better this afternoon and came over for a short training session with the boys.
We took Valiant out first and what a change from Saturday. Today he was softer and wanting to please. Within a few minutes Karin was satisfied. He would change direction as soon as she asked by whirling on his hind legs.

Once the reins were attached he was asked to cross over with his back legs. Today he did this without hesitation.

He is responding well to her cues and wants to please her. He did so well that Karin only worked him a few minutes. He was put away and Evan brought out. Evan had an attitude today but I was actually glad to see this. On Saturday he still seemed depressed. Ever since the fight with Valiant Evan has been low key. Well today he was back to his normal naughty self kicking out when asked to move and bucking. He started out by tossing his head then went right up.

He finally did settle down and worked nice for her. It was nice to see he was feeling good.

Once Karin had finished with him he was put in a stall so I could move a new round bale in his paddock. After supper Diane was waiting at her office so I could get the Horsemeister check book reconciled. I was two months behind but it only took an hour and a half. As this is the last month of the year I'll have to work on the rest of the books for our tax man Russ Rumbold but it is late and I'm tired so that will be worked on later.

First Snowfall

We were shocked when we stepped out of church. We were not expecting to see snow. The prediction was a snow rain mix with all of it melting but at 1:30 the cars in the church parking lot were covered and the roads were slick.
The only problem came when mom started throwing snowballs at cars. YES she really did, what kind of example is our 84 year old mother? At least she wasn't throwing them at people. The drive home was slow but beautiful. We marveled at the intricate patterns of snow lining each branch. When we got home the camera was brought out for a few pictures.
Above is looking toward the pond pasture, that is Jenis and Eliza grazing the still green grass under the snow cover. below is looking over the garage to the big evergreen.

Above are the snow covered pods next to our patio looking like fluffy balls of cotton and below is small evergreen in the front yard. Notice the green grass poking through.
All of this grass is going to be frozen later this week, the thermometer is going to plunge to the teens with highs in the low 20s later this week.  Mark chose not to plow though, the temperature is suppose to be 40 tomorrow and hopefully this will melt pretty quickly. Sarah Reinhard posted the picture below
She writes: When we woke up this morning it was lightly snowing, but while we were it church it snowed for real. We had to rush home (slowly on slushies roads) and beat Grandma in the annual race to build the first snowman. Proud champions!
Mom's response:  I finished mine, finally, but he isn't as as cute as yours, Good Job! I also shoveled the walk and concrete pad! How about you?
Joan's response: Hey! There's a great idea. A race to shovel the walk instead of building a snowman!!
Sarah and Nolan were busy this afternoon building their snowman. This is their first Christmas in their new home.
Mark got our patio shoveled. We spent the evening over at Dennis and Gertie's house. They invited us for dinner.
Karin bought a leg of lamb which mom cooked for her and Ruth and Fedi's family. I'd say by looking at the Fedi enjoying the meal in the picture below it must have been delicious.
Peoria church and ANOTHER engagement announcement today. Sis. Alexandra Elsasser and Bro. Brett Hoerr announced their engagement.  Their parents are Bro. Brian and Mary Elsasser and Bro. Carle and Sis. Debby Hoerr. That is FIVE for Peoria, mom says, "they are dropping like flies!"
We are so happy for Alex and Brett and wish them God's richest blessings.

Giving Good Gifts

It is snowing out this morning, a beautiful snow covering the evergreens and making me think of Christmas which makes me so very thankful of all the gifts that have been given to me. Twenty years ago Rhoda and I drove to Ohio to go to Equine Affair, a huge horse fair like the Midwest Horse Fair. There we put $10.00 into a raffle to try to win a Friesian foal. Most of our time was spent hanging around the Friesian display and horses just praying we would win (we didn't). One of the owners mentioned she had a gelding that she would sell cheap as he didn't make the height standard so my ears pricked up and I sidled up to ask what his price would be. When she said, $15,000.00 then saw my reaction, she explained, "the way to buy one is to just take a home equity loan out on your home". Like that would ever happen! I knew they were expensive but didn't dream anyone would pay thousands for a horse that could go lame or get sick and die, but it was on that trip that my dream started. Now flash forward to early spring of 2001, a dressage rider and owner named Sue Steele had a big black Westfalen warmblood mare that as she states, "ran me into the side of the barn for the last time" she wanted me to take her to an auction. At first I tried to explain, that isn't a good idea, this was the Amish auction in Arthur, IL and they would not pay much for something not trained to plow or drive. She actually said, "I don't care what I get I just want her gone." After praying about this mare named Lilo I offered Sue $800.00 for her, which was what I had in my Friesian saving fund. Sue was glad to accept the offer and we drove over and brought Lilo home. The end of May 2001 Lilo was hauled 300 miles to the nearest Friesian stallion and came home pregnant.
May 4th, 2002 Lily was born and that was the beginning. That was a rough start though, at 8 months old Lily came down with a terrible disease called EPM and had to spend 10 days at U of I first trying to survive then learn to walk. The medicine was so expensive and even now I look back and wonder how I could afford it. I remember taking on cleaning jobs, scrapping out metal, cleaning stalls all the while caring for our 5 children and keeping up (not very well) with the  house work. I still remember breaking down in tears when Spark told me, "I don't usually pray for animals but today I prayed for your filly."
The next 2 years of this story is too long but suffice it to say with lots of ups and downs. I was trolling the internet when I saw Raven for sale. If you would like to read the rest of the story of how we acquired Raven click HERE.
Raven truly was a gift from God, just because He loves ME! Imagine that the God of the universe cares about my pitiful dreams and loves me enough to want to give me good gifts. The amazing thing is that this gift doesn't even compare with the gift of His Son Jesus. Jesus came that ALL, as in every person could be saved. He does not want any lost but reminds us in the Word that narrow is the gate and few there are that enter. He wants to be YOUR personal savior, he loves YOU too. The way to learn about this gift is to read His Word. IF you need a Bible please contact me or go to a Bible believing church and ask for a Bible. Please please accept His gift, don't wait, The God of all creation longs for YOU.

Working the Boys

Karin needed a horse fix and the ONLY horses here at the Hanna City farm that needed to be worked were Evan and Valiant. First though she had to open a Christmas gift then put the gift together and use. She was given 6 brand new 6 inch draft bits and 2 new brand new royal blue neoprene draft bridles. The old bits were taken off of the old bridles and pitched. They were all just a bit too small and starting to rust. The new ones are much better quality. Karin already had 2 draft bridles so now we have 4 nice big draft bridles plus 4 Friesian bridles all with 6 inch bits.  Last night 4 more of those 6 inch draft bits were orders so we will end up with 12. At least I know where to buy them but will need to wait until next month before ordering more. They are kind of expensive.
Valiant was the first horse Karin tried the new draft bridle on. It fit fine.
Of course the first thing Valiant did when taken to the round pen was have a good long roll making sure he ground in sand on every available surface. So much for getting good pictures.

Karin ended this session with some trick training.
Valiant was put away and Evan brought out. Evan's head is smaller so he got to wear one of the old Friesian bridles with a new bit.
Evan still has it, he gets so far off the ground he looks like he is floating.

After the boys were put away they and the others were fed and then it was time to come in and do laundry. Mark worked on preparing the machines for winter. Both mowers now have the blades sharpened, the oil changed and both have the gas all drained out for winter. The apartment and the porch each got a couple loads of split logs. We have snow and cold coming tonight and this next week, thankfully we have lots of wood. The fireplace insert was kept burning all last night and today. The high for the day was only 38 degrees and it was a damp cold.

Christmas Shopping

Today was the first day free and we were pretty much out of dog food which meant a trip to Sams Club. Since that store, Big R, and Aldi are pretty much the only stores I visit, today I spent time looking at gifts but just couldn't find much. Still by the time I bought a beef roast, pork loin and other groceries the bill came to $154.00 and only when I was checking out did I remember the dog food. The other checker was nice enough to go get a bag. Next was the trip to Aldi and I did find a few gifts there plus groceries and that bill came to $152.00. The car was pretty full by the time I finally got home. Emily had already left with Angelica so Adara was put back out in the paddock with Titan and Arturo and the indoor arena cleaned up from anything the  2 fillies left. While working out in the arena I decided it would be a good day to dig a trench under the big front doors so this winter when the kids are practicing for the fair they can shut the doors and run the heater.
The fire place insert was kept burning pretty much all night last night and all day today. It is cold and damp outside and only going to get colder.
Phil and Anna dropped off the girls for the evening and we worked on different crafts making candy coated pretzels with lots of different kinds of sprinkles. Why by the time the girls had finished there were more sprinkles than pretzels. They stuck them in the fridge to harden but just couldn't stop from opening the fridge door and checking on them every few minutes. The hardest part about the day is that Emma brought home some deer carcass she found on the walk this morning. I would not let her in the house and she was not going to let me put it in the dumpster like last time so she stayed at the end of the yard chewing and gnawing away. Well Darcy wanted out to see this treasure and somehow they both ended up with big bones full of tufts of red meat. They both enjoyed this treat but thankfully Emma was able to hide both bones and she forgets where she puts them.  Both dogs ended up with terrible gas. Honestly it smelled like someone messed. Of course having 3 girls over I was constantly checking Kensley's diaper and asking the girls, "do you need to use the bathroom?"
Time for some Christmas music. One of my favorite songs: Mary Did You Know sung by Peter Hollens and he happens to sing all parts.

Angelica SOLD

What a busy day. To read about our busy morning at the Berean office click HERE. Scrambling to get done in time at the Berean office to meet the man coming to pay for Angelica but having to stop at church to drop off the studies for Aunt Bernie then running into the shop to pay the first of the month bills, then to the bank to drop off a couple checks for Bridlewood Apartments which is on the way to the post office to drop off the Berean mail then to CEFCU to deposit checks into my account, get to the barn to find Angelica had rolled and was so dusty with sand dust from the arena she looked gray was a little stressful, especially with the traffic in Peoria. Angelica was taken into the stall barn for a good groom which got finished just in time. The buyer was pleased, very happy with how tall and hairy she is.
She is such an impressive Friesian filly with thick feather that starts at the back of her knees.
She is now paid for and will leave tomorrow afternoon. Emily is going to be delivering her up near Rockford, IL. I had to drive back down to Meister's to finish paying the bills for mom's Gulf Shores, condo. Those taxes are due this month and while going through the end of the year paper work found a check from Meyer dated Jan 16th, 2015. Meyer's was called and they will be glad to replace that check which is now void.
I heading up now to clean stalls but just one more day of that and the next foal that will need a bath is Titan. He is going to be picked up a week from Saturday so I don't want to keep him stalled until then. He is doing fine out in the paddock with Marika's colt, Arturo.
This evening we have a nice hot fire in the fireplace insert and are enjoying the heat. Today just feels cold. It was even spitting snow this morning. Even though it was a cold day Karin still went out to Middle Grove to work the mares. She reported Rosaleigh has a small bump on her neck that will need watching. The mares all did remarkably well. Easter Lilly has bonded with Jewel and is sticking to her like glue. That is good, Jewel will keep her safe out there. Karin said when she was working with Easter Lilly and Jewel walked off Easter Lilly threw a fit but soon settled down and paid attention. We will be giving her quite a few months to adjust to the herd before we expect much work out of her.
