Actually I was awakened at 4:00 am Friday morning by a large SNAP then clatter clatter clatter. On Thursday night a mouse trap was set. The noise went on for a bit then got quiet. The lights were turned on only to find an empty mouse trap that had been dragged all over the kitchen so the mouse got away. There was no going back to sleep so started the coffee early and got in some extra quiet time with my Bible and the Lord.
Mark's breakfast was made around 6:15 so I could head out early to move some round bales before our walk. Ribbon's old paddock got a new bale as did Jury's paddock. We moved Skye next to Evan and put Jury, Ripper and Mika in Ribbon's old paddock.
After our walk Indy was teased and covered then Michaela, her mom Bev and I left for Middle Grove to try to find the herd. The night before Mike had opened all the gates dividing all 3 pastures hoping the herd would find their way into the winter pasture. We drove first to the original pasture stopped at Mike and Diane's tiny house for the guests to check out.
Above is the living room area and below is the kitchen which holds a fridge, microwave, 2 burner stove, toaster and sink.
Above is a view looking east of the upstairs, the stairs to go down and two grandchildren beds. The window air conditioner works perfect. Below is the big bed, another window and the television on the swivel stand. The trunk holds more bedding if needed.
Below is the tv moved out of the way. The swivel stand makes it more roomy to watch from either side, and out of the way when getting ready for bed.
The tiny house use to be a coffee shop in Peoria. Mike and Diane were given it but had to move it then remodel.
The tiny house is very impressive, how so much can fit in such a small area and yet feel roomy. Diane did a wonderful job designing it. It is also impressive that it is off grid and yet has all the comforts of home, water, electricity and even dish television. From there we went up to the big lake where the boats and dock are, drove through the gates up into the summer pasture and drove almost to the round pen. Still no horses insight. As I was driving the Prius instead of a 4 wheel drive truck I turned around. We went back to the main road and drove to the winter pasture. We went past the first gate and right before we got to the second gate we saw some of the horses grazing. We drove into that drive enough to get off the road then walked the rest of the way. The horses were all glad to see us but not all the horses were in that bunch. We were missing Sangria, Sally, Missy, Irish, her filly, Hadassah, her filly, Jewel, her filly and big Rosalie. Mike said he would look for that group Saturday, round them up and put them in with the others then lock all the gates. We drove straight home. Karin was here working with Ava and Faith teaching them about round penning with Mika. I left for Sam's club to pick up lots of fruit for the surprise birthday party for Wayne Klopfenstein which Bob and Myrna were hosting. Joan picked up Spark and Rhonda first before picking Mark and I up around 5:20 pm. We made it there right at 6:00 pm and what a beautiful evening. Wayne and Carol are here just for a few days. We had a nice meal out by the pool. Gail made a delicious angel food cake with strawberries and whipping cream, stuck a candle in it and we all sang to Wayne. The group that came just happened to be all choir members and Wayne led our choir for 17 years before retiring. Bob started a fire,
and we sat around and sang then laughed over the many funny and wonderful choir memories.
The group included Skip and Pat, Spark and Rhonda, Marvin and Gail, Bob and Myrna, Wayne and Carol, Mark and me, Joan and Sarah. We really did stay too late we were having such a good time. A special thanks to Bob and Myrna for hosting. We haven't had potluck since covid shut everything down in March and really do miss getting together sharing meals with loved ones. The lady that bought Zalena's 2017 colt by Evan shared this picture of him:
He really IS magnificent!
