Halloween

Right after breakfast we took the now refinished table up to the camper and installed it. The two legs of this table come off and the table top lays down to make the dinette a bed. We are pleased with how it turned out.

Mark wanted to start working on the garage siding and we worked together for a few hours and finished 1 side learning as we worked.

The other side of the garage will be quite a bit harder as there is a window and a people door. Sarah was the only parent that brought out trick or treaters this year. By the way those buckets were filled with candy in 45 minutes!
I think we might have been the only people home in the neighborhood and it isn't worth the drive for just our house. Thankfully pictures were posted of most of the grands. Of the pictures there was one that I wasn't sure was even related and after realizing who was missing in this family decided it must be Taegan.
Above is Taegan below pictured right is Kensley.
I'm not sure what kind of accident Braelyn had but she sure banged up her face.
The candy lady and officer below are Iris and Zeke.
The dinosaur below is actually Israel.
The teacher in the picture below is Elisabet.
I have candy left to give away so hopefully Addyson, Jack, Jace and Abe will get some on Sunday for dinner.

Pleasant

No walk today. Instead when Mark went up to feed the cat I made him some protein pancakes made out of 2 eggs a little milk and a little pancake flour. Those were topped with cream cheese, a spoonful of strawberry jam and rolled up then sliced and served with sausage links and a couple eggs over medium.

He dribbled a little maple syrup over the pancake and said they were delicious. After breakfast Ruth and Fedi invited us over to check out Steven's new abode. He bought a 5th wheel that has the polar package with heated tanks and an underbelly.
It is HUGE. It has two opposing slides in the living area and another in the bedroom. We both marveled at how spacious those opposing slides make this camper.
After checking it Fedi showed us the carving tool Steven built. The carver sits on the bench and the piece of wood to be carved is held by the piece Fedi is holding.
Below are a few of Steven's pieces in progress
Next we went inside to see some of Fedi's carvings. I'm not sharing them here as he is making them as gifts but they are really special and who ever ends up with them are going to be pretty pleased. He really should open up a shop and sell some of his work. They are all one of a kind and hand carved. The picture below are just some of his carving knives.
Fedi and Mark are holding a couple of mallets Steven made.
Below Fedi is holding a piece of wood he has had since he was a junior in high school over in Romania. He had to walk through the woods and this was his weapon.
On the way out I had to stop to admire their massive wood pile.
They really are prepared for a hard winter. They have at least 4 wood burners to keep burning, one in their main living room, one in Ruth's sunroom, one in Irma's apartment, and one is Steven's 5th wheel (that one is arriving tomorrow.)
When we left there we went straight to Joan's to put the slide out and turn on the fridge of the camper going out this afternoon.
Mark left then to go drive to Princeville to up the steel siding for the garage. We used the tractor to get it off the truck and onto the fork lifts of the tractor.
He took it down to the garage and slid it off the fork lift then of course had to open and check out a piece.

I had to leave then to meet the man renting the camper. When I got back supper was made, or at least heated up. We had left over meat loaf, left over broccoli, salad and fried potatoes.
After supper we went to work on the camper table, replacing the top.

It turned out ok for our first attempt.,
Not perfect but usable and much better than what it was. It was cold and foggy this morning but the sun broke through and for a couple hours today it was pleasant outside.

A Late Night

All that drizzly weather yesterday and last night produced a total of just a half of an inch but it came so slowly that everything soaked in.

Ruth and I walked this morning. It turned out that my phone had accidently been on airplane mode and I was not getting anyone's texts or phone calls all day. We walked over to see the new barn going up and realized that the gravel on Diane's drive was covered with sticky mud that clung to our shoes. We ended up trying to clean that off with the grass on the side of the road. Brian was here installing the electric for the garage when I got home.
He worked most of the day but we were thrilled with what he got accomplished. That white thing hanging on the wall is a car charger, Mark is working on the two garage door openers.
I needed to get a bale moved in for the weanings and needed Mark to help with that as I didn't want them running out when the gate was opened. They were grained first and that kept them busy while I cleaned out the net wrap. Those silly weanlings, they all think the other buckets must have more in them than their own.

When Mark brought the bale they were still busy.
Once that job was done we took the truck over to Joan's to move a the camper that needs the table repair over here. Below Mark is putting the chocks under the tires so he can unhook it from the truck.
We parked it next to the barn so it can be plugged in.
He went over to Joan's drain the water out of the fresh water tanks of two of the campers there then came back and did this one getting ready to winterize 3 of them. The 4th is rented out tomorrow.  As we will be storing them inside I needed to move the hay around.
They hay on the left side of the barn needed to be stacked better. Below is after I got it restacked.
That leaves us enough room between the two stacks to bring the campers in for winter storage.
The arena needed to be cleaned up of any left over hay that fell off of the round bales as I was moving them.
That hay was put in the stalls. Waste not want not, a favorite saying of all of my ancestors. We went over to check out the progress on Mike's barn after the workers left. They got the extra boards up on the roof. The metal was delivered and tomorrow they will start on that.
We skipped supper, left for church at 6:10 pm. Tim Roecker had the message tonight. Click HERE to listen to that. He mentioned that we should share what God has done for us at Culvers tonight during his message so that is what we did while eating a late supper. We stayed and visited until 9:30 pm. A late night!

Cold and Damp

It was another chilly morning. I work both a sweat shirt and a water proof wind breaker as I drove the golf cart up to feed the weanlings. Sally, Jewel and Missy came up to see if I had any grain for them too.

They don't need any but think they deserve at least a handful of that treat just for being here as riding horses. Of course the Gypsies saw them getting a treat and started nickering for theirs then Evan came galloping up just in case I would forget him. Valiant doesn't beg, he KNOWS he is getting some. At 7:30 am I took the golf cart over to the dumpster just in case Ruth would show up for the walk but she didn't. I left for the Berean office at 8:00 am. We had a very good morning there.
Bruce and Leilia were back from Arizona, just in time for the cold damp weather. Bruce went right to work on the postage machine while Leila read letters with Kathy. Marvin mentioned he was SO glad to have letter readers back.

See all those boxes up against the wall in the picture above? They are all gone in the picture below. Ray came and used a knife to flatten them then took them out to be recycled. We were all thankful to see him.
Shirley L brought a lemon dessert today for our treat. It really was delicious and some of us even needed to have seconds just to make sure our taste buds weren't tricking us with the first one. I stopped at the Hanna City post office to drop off the Bibles and studies going out today. It was sprinkling rain all the way home. Today is just not very pleasant, cold and damp.  I could hear the pounding of nails when I got home. Impressive that the EB Builder workers were working today as it was sprinkling rain and cold most of the day.
Mark left for his doctor appointment. I sat down to read a book but ended up taking a nap but just a short one. I was out working with the weanlings when he got home.
They will need another round bale tomorrow. I am a little disappointed that their bale only lasted 2 weeks but thankful they are all doing well. They were fed before going back to the house to heat up some potato sausage soup for our supper. After eating I took the golf cart over to check the progress on Mike's new barn.
Amazing how quickly it is going up. There was a nice pile of scraps.
I took 2 of the ends of the posts as those make good stands for campers and also brought home some little pieces to start the fire tonight.
Love feeling the warmth and hearing the snap crackle pops of the fire.
