Thanksgiving Preparations (Yesterday's Post)

Right after the walk the oven was turned on and it ended up staying on until 6:00 pm. The pumpkin pies were baked first,  then the pecan pies, while those were baking the chocolate pies were made. The smaller turkey weighing in at 18.34 pounds was prepared for baking, with the giblets cooking on the stove for grinding. As soon as the pies were done the over temperature lowered to 325 and the turkey popped in the oven. Once the giblets were cooked it was time to start on the stuffing. There is an awful lot of chopping, sauteing and mixing with stuffing. Mom made a big batch but with over 40 people coming today we needed a second batch too.
The house needed to be cleaned but I only got the upstairs ready for company with the sheets changed and laundry started when Ben & Taunya arrived. They left the boys with us so we could have a date night with the boys. Sarah took Addyson  and the Lily puppy with her to babysit for the Honeggers. Those boys were so good. Jace just loves the dogs and as long as he could play with Emma he was more than happy. Jack and Mark had fun playing with the toys Jack brought with him.
It was a good thing he brought his own toys, we don't really have a lot of boy toys. Check out Jace and Emma below.
Jace decides this dog looks good enough to eat.
Emma was very patient with him.
A bit later grandma got out the paper and pens for Jack and he spent some time making pokes through the papers. Funny the girls are content to draw but the boys have to stab and poke and rip then so proud of holes.
We took them over to the apartment to put them to bed and just waited over there until Ben and Taunya got back from their date night. They spent the night there and will be going to church with us this morning.
