Zalena Pregnant

Taunya and the 4 grandchildren came over this morning early. Ben made it here from Dallas, TX and was already at work needing the apartment to be quiet.  They sure are adorable.
Above the 3 boys are playing nicely while below Addyson reads her book. She is quite a reader for only 8 years old, devouring novels. She must take after her grandma Judy.
Before the walk the trailer was parked between the two barns and Zalena and her colt Flynn were put in the stall. Flynn's halter was put on in readiness for the trip to Hoerr Vet clinic. At 8:25 am they were taken out of the stall and by 8:26 am loaded and off we went. Flynn was so well behaved, stepping quietly into the trailer without a fuss. When we arrived at Hoerr Vet clinic the parking lot was full, so full it was hard to find a place to park with cars on both sides of the drive. Thankfully Dr. Hoerr got me in pretty quickly. Zalena was first up and very quickly Dr. Hoerr used his sonagram machine to find the embryonic vesicle. She is pregnant due June 15th, 2018. Karin will be pleased that she won't be so huge next year for the Horse Fair that is always held the first weekend in March.

Now not to brag or anything but the foals our stallions put out are amazing. Below 3 month old Flynn is getting his blood drawn for the coggins test. He stood like a champ, hardly moving at all.
Such a well behaved colt. His beauty is almost surpassed by his sweet disposition.
Once home Addyson, Jack and Jace came with me to feed the fish at mom's beach. The geese had taken over the raft.
The water was so clear we could easily see the fish gulping up the bits of bread thrown in.

As we were finishing up a big heron flew almost overhead and landed by Spark and Rhonda's house.

We took a long golf cart ride around the lake watching for birds, ducks and geese.
We took the golf cart way into the woods and across the fields, this big red tailed hawk came flying over us. He was hunting mice in the fields.
By the time we got back the weather was extremely hot and humid. The barn air conditioner was turned on and the two heavily pregnant mares were brought inside. I am so thankful for that air conditioner. Missy and Coke needed to be brought in from the field, one of them kicked a board down into Valiant's paddock. Not that he probably didn't deserve that, I'm sure he was bothering them across the fence. Missy was put in with Bunni while Coke was put in with what use to be her companion, Brista. That turned out badly. Brista started picking on Coke, trying to bite and kick her. Coke was taken out quickly and put in with Bunni and Missy solving the problem. Go figure, when Brista and Coke were living together at the Goose Ranch it was Coke who was the dominate mare.
It was too hot for the kids to play outside this afternoon so we played inside. This evening we all went to Phil and Anna's for dinner. Indy and Roxanne were put back outside at 8:30 pm, not that it was much cooler, even with the sun almost down the thermometer was reading 88 degrees. Their stalls were cleaned and only then did I turn the barn air off.
