We had a good time on the walk, calling Karin and convincing her to bring her dog and move in with mom so everybody at the Lake can Party during the storm was only one of the items accomplished. The other was figuring out what to do for water if the electricity goes out. All of our automatic waterers have a heater attached and will freeze in the predicted bitter cold temps without electricity. We think we have a plan that hopefully will not need to be used. Mike is worried about the weight of the snow collapsing the barn roof and damaging all of our equipment. We had it rated for over average but if we get 20 inches of heavy wet snow, perhaps we can pull Sparks fire engine out and try to knock it off the roof.
On the way home, Jamie Stone called with an emergency. One of her friends and a neighbor that lives about 3 miles away has a young horse that is down and the owners think it is colicking. She wanted to borrow banimine but I had none at the farm. My last tube was at the house so once home, grabbed it and met Jamie half way. She was able to deliver it quickly and helped them give the horse the correct amount. She called to tell me the horse is still in a lot of pain. She was reminded banimine doesn't work instantly. Dr. Hoerr was called but is a good hour away, it should kick in a half hour before he gets there which may or may not help with the diagnoses.
Time to head down to my real job.
