Schooling Day

We had rain during the night last night but at 6:00 am it wasn't raining so I went out to move a bale in for Dancer, Sheena and Titus. They were locked in the pasture so the paddock could be left open. They were glad to get out to graze.

Above is Titus and below is Dancer.
Dancer is due May 5th and this will be her first foal so we are watching her closely.
Below is Sheena. She was due yesterday but in the past has gone 10 days late. Her udder is still pretty flat.
While they were grazing the bale was moved.
I had clean dish towels, wash rags and a table cloth to take over to the barn so I took that on the way to the walk. I stopped to take a picture of the grazing horses in the mare pasture, the grass is so nice and green.
The walk over to Joan's was full of flowery scent. Some of the trees are now flowering and the entire walk smelled wonderful.
After picking up Joan and walking back towards mom's house Joan saw this fat tree frog sitting on a slim limb thinking he was well camouflaged.
There was also a plant neither Joan nor I knew what it was. We think it is come kind of tree.
After the walk I left for Sam's club to pick up the food for Sunday dinner. We decided on hamburgers so a 10 pound roll of 90/10 of that was purchased @ $4.88 a pound. That price always shocks me but the ground chuck was $4.78 a pound and with the difference in fat waste I spent the extra 10 cents a pound. Strawberries were still on sale and 3 containers of those were purchased along with hamburger buns, carrots, lettuce, and some other foods. When I was unloading the car I noticed the goose family in the pond pasture had hatched out 7 goslings.
The geese took their family out of the water to graze in the pasture. The video is long but it took a while for the goslings to get out of the tall grass to see them.

Today was a school day for the fillies. Mark helped me move the mares and fillies into the stall then Mike came to help with haltering them. Below is Blueberry and her filly Roseberry by Valiant. She is 2 weeks old. We did not tie her but she was handled, pressure applied to turn and move forward with the rope behind her rear end.
Next was Rosalie's filly Dahlia by Evan. She will be a month old in a few days so today she got a haltering lesson AND a tie lesson.

As I was working with them Karin sent a message that Phil and Dan Baer had arrived. I took the golf cart over to visit with them. Joan came in for a visit as did Spark and Rhonda.
I left there to go back to the fillies, worked with them another 15 minutes putting their halters off and on about 10 times each then putting them back outside. The stalls were cleaned and prepared for tonight.
It started raining again and when I went back to the house the goose family was still out in the pasture, 6 of the goslings were under their mama and you can see in the video the back of her wing moving as they move about but one was out in the rain.

Joan was over working on the motorhome. She found the problem with the water pump and ordered a part for it. I was trying to make supper when the electricity went out. Thankfully we have a gas stove so I just had to find a fire starter to start it. I think someone ran into a pole and knocked it down. The entire area was out. Mark was working in the new barn and sent a text asking if I had electricity at the house and was relieved when I told him no. This evening Dancer and Sheena were stalled. They will start spending the nights in a stall until their foals come. Hopefully that will be soon. I have them on the monitor but do not expect either to deliver tonight.
