Fun Saturday

Dancer never did settle down in the stall, she could see Sheena but wouldn't eat the hay, just kept pacing. I went out early to let them out. I'm not sure if forcing her to stay in the stall at night is the best option. Neither mare's udder is filled yet so tonight I'm leaving them out in the pasture. It is not muddy, no rain predicted and not freezing cold. After cleaning the stalls the mares with foals were brought in and the foals haltered. All went really well at first for both of them but the second time putting the halter on Rosalie's filly she slipped out and fought a bit. I got banged in the face but not bad and didn't let go so alls well ends well. I ended up with a couple small scrapes on my face. The horses were put back out before I needed to be in to cook breakfast. After breakfast I took a quick trip up to the foaling apartment to make sure it was ready for guests then went over to mom's house. Karin had already left. Aunt Jinnie was reading Fedi's book to mom. Fedi wrote the book about his growing up in Romania and his escape during Nicolae Ceausecu's reign of terror.  Once it is published I will for sure want to buy one.

Speaking of Fedi, he finished the coffee table he was carving. I think he did a marvelous job. He really is an amazing artist.
We noticed the wrens were back. Each year they come back to the little wooden log bird house and build a nest.
The goose family with the 7 goslings were swimming by mom's beach.
Diane arrived as I was making lunch to tell me that Rhoda and Sarah were here giving pony rides to their kids.  Of course I had to go watch. Zion was in the outdoor arena on Cookie and doing very well.

The others had already had a turn to ride but River and Zeke wanted to go one more time.

When Zeke was done Zion led River around on Cookie.

Zeke decided he would rather have a golf cart ride.
Eden and Iris had fun climbing and watching.
Rhoda de-wormed Missy, Cookie and Star Temple. When she brought Star Temple out I teased her and she is in season.
She was not covered then as we were all leaving for the Bartonville Diner for our lunch. The place was packed but we only had to wait a few minutes before they were able to get a table for us. This older man came over to our table and gave each of the kids a spinning ball.

That kept them pretty occupied until the food came. The food was plenteous for all.
After I got home the mares and foals were brought back in and haltered then Mike called to help get Star covered by Valiant. That was a successful cover. She stood well.  The fillies were haltered again, handled again and turned back out at 3:30 pm. It is so good for them to be handled and brought into the stall. They both promptly laid down and took a nap. Our guests arrived for the foaling apartment as i was putting the mares and foals back out. They were introduced to all of the horses here. Mark went to work at the new barn while I read the book Rhoda brought today. We just heated up soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for supper.
