I was up at 5:00 am and when I saw Dancer laying down knew she either had delivered or was in labor. It took me just a few minutes to throw my clothes on, get the golf cart and drive up to the field. I was so thankful to see a healthy colt and the bonus was he is pitch black. I couldn't see a single white hair anywhere on him. It started misting so asked Mike to come help move them in stalls then came back and made breakfast for Mark. Ruth couldn't come on the walk, she is getting ready to leave for Romania on Thursday. Diane, Joan and I walked and of course when we got to the barn went in to see Dancer and the new colt. Dancer was so unhappy in the stall she wasn't holding still for the colt to nurse. We decided to move them all into the indoor arena but first I needed to clean out the water tank. Once Dancer, her colt and Sheena were moved over we continued our walk, stopping in to show mom the video of the colt nursing. Right after the walk I went straight to the indoor arena and was disappointed to see Dancer wasn't happy there either. As it had stopped raining the horses were led out to the mare pasture. Sheena looks huge in the picture below. She is overdue but still no sign of her udder filling.

A Good Day
They settled down there and after watching for about 15 minutes felt it was safe to leave them. Mark was busy weed whacking around the fence posts.
When he finished with that he mowed Evan's pasture.
This morning I listened to Fred Witzig who had the message in Washington Sunday while getting 2 loads of laundry done. That message was exactly what I needed to listen to. First about David and how he felt while running from Saul and then Peter. Fred brought out so well how Jesus knew Peter was going to deny him and yet even before Peter did, Jesus told him; Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not and when thou are converted strengthen thy brethren. Watch the message by clicking HERE, Fred explains it so much better than I can write. My takeaway was even when I have failed God does not give up on me. After the laundry was finished I went out to bring Rosalie, her filly, Blueberry and her filly into the stalls to put halters on the fillies. That went very well. Both stood quietly when the halter was put on. I forgot to take a picture of Blueberry's filly as I decided to take a video of Rosalie's now that she is a month old. I also took some new pictures for the horsemeister website.
Blueberry's filly had her halter taken off and they were led back outside and put in the paddock while Rosalie and her filly were taken first to the round pen and then to the outdoor arena.
I left her halter on for the video and she had a tantrum. She did not want that on and tried to shake it off. You can see the tantrum happen after I put them in the outdoor arena.
She has very nice movement, just like her mama. After making the video I noticed that Phil and Anna were at the barn working.I took the golf cart over to see if I could help. They gave me a few easy jobs like pulling staples and getting wood and one job for Mark and I to do later which will be putting the carpet back up around the windows. On the way back to the house I noticed the colt taking a nap in the field with Dancer standing guard over him.
He woke up, got up and went right over to nurse.
About that time it was time to get Star Temple covered by Valiant so asked Mike if he was available. She stood well and the cover was successful. Next I needed to dip his cord in iodine again but since I didn't want to bring Dancer back into the stall asked Mike to hold him.
Once that was done he went right over to nurse again. He is a strong colt. I'll need to watch the cord as it seemed a little thick. Whiskey was also given the shot to short cycle her. Dr. Hoerr thought that in 3 days she should be in and in 5 days ready to cover but... if she shows good signs before the 5 days cover her right away as she had a short cycle last time. Mark had the mower in the garage back of the stalls. He wanted to grease several of the bearings. We tried to use the jack to lift it but that didn't work out well.
He was able to get all of them done but one. That one will need some attention as it broke off. I went in then to bake peanut butter cookies for the Berean treat tomorrow.
Those are now cooled and put in airtight containers for tomorrow. It was a good day.
