No food for me today and no walk either. The 2 horses in the stalls were taken out to the last paddock and the stalls cleaned. Then I left at 7:30 am for Morton, IL to sell my blood. Well it was a little more than the giving of my blood. They also gave me a very sugary drink then stuck something in my arm and had me wait a couple hours then another blood draw. The picture below is the waiting room.
For all of this I was given a check for $275.00. I've never had to not work so hard for such easy money. This is a study, I think, for the thing they stuck in my arm) going on for diabetes. I have to keep the meter within 20 feet of me at all times for the next two weeks but when I go back to remove that they will give me another $100.00. It only cost about 3 hours of my time. Rhoda did it and encouraged us to sign up for the study. As soon as I got home I made a big breakfast then went out to work. The drywallers arrived and worked from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.They were able to get one wall and one entire bathroom done in those 4 hours. I'm thrilled as all the drywall is now upstairs and out of sight for the guests coming in tomorrow. The far paddock needed a new bale so the two horses in that paddock were moved to the outdoor arena. They both enjoyed a good roll before settling down to graze.
Then it was time to get to work cleaning the mare pasture. Joan had Mackenson and Berlica mowing around the barns and yards and all of the time they are mowing it was threatening to rain.
Berlica got the yard up by the apartment mowed then Joan moved the truck and trailer into that yard. Mark wants to grease the axels.
The pictures below were taken as I was cleaning the pastures.
The pastures were cleaned before any real rain started but it was sprinkling as I was emptying the manure cart.
Berlica finished up the new barn lawns.
I was heading back to the barn when I saw the fox in Evan's pasture again.
I watched him run across the drive into Diane and Mike's drive.
About then Mark sent a video. He saw TWO foxes playing in the cabin field. All along I thought we were seeing just one fox but we might have a family of foxes.
I ordered a couple pizza's from Casey's for the birthday party happening at the barn tonight. I was told it would only be 15 minutes so I was right on time to pick it up but they hadn't even been put in the pizza oven yet. Below the cheese pizza is out and the pepperoni is going in the oven. I didn't mind the wait.
After the pizza was delivered Titus and Aiken were brought back into the stalls for the night. Titus was tied, his legs played with, given a quick groom to get the dirt off from his roll then unhaltered. The halter was dropped in his grain bucket and of course he had to pick it up.
When he dropped the halter it scared him and he snorted. I got that on video.
Dancer and her colt along with Sheena and her filly were called in and locked in the far paddock for the night. We have had so much rain I would like to keep the horses off the pastures. Dancer's colt was very curious about that phone I was holding.
Both foals were handled a bit.
Above is Dancer's colt and below is Sheena's filly.
This evening I made one more trip out to the barn to clean up a couple piles each stalled horse left. Below is Titus hoping I would take them back out.
They both are settled in and standing quietly. They had so much grazing time they aren't hungry for their hay yet.
