Date Night

As soon as it was light Dancer and Sheena were put out in mare pasture and their stalls cleaned. Neither mare was tidy in the stall. Both were pig pens. Sheena had spread her hay all over the stall and mixed that with her manure and urine. Dancer had paced and paced and chopped her manure balls up into tiny pieces spread all over the stall. Hopefully tonight will be better. That wheelbarrow pictured below is only the first one hauled out, although the second wasn't quite as full.

Just Ruth and I walked and we cut it short so we could go in a visit with mom and Aunt Jinnie a little longer. After going home and cooking breakfast I asked Mark to come out to help me put a board back up in the first stall and then help with bringing the mares and fillies in for another haltering lesson. I was very pleased today with how well both fillies did. Both stood quietly while the halter was put on. Today Blueberry's filly was tied. She fought that but gave up pretty quickly.
After calming her down I let her nurse but kept the halter and lead rope on for a few more minutes.
Rosalie's filly was tied as soon as her halter was on and her legs played with. She accepted it all without any fight.

She did so well I left off any more training and put the horses back out in the pond pasture.
Mark wanted Dancer and Sheena to graze in Evan's pasture as that was getting long. They were called over and then locked out of the mare pasture. They followed me back to the gate.
I changed out of my barn clothes and drove to the DMV in Peoria to renew the sticker on the 2 horse trailer.
I stopped at Aldi on the way home to pick up baking supplies and more avocados as we were out. Mark was working on the drive when I got back.
He finished around 4:00 pm and then changed into clean clothes because tonight we were going to the new Mexican restaurant in Farmington. We walked in at 4:45 pm and were the first guests of the evening.
Mark ordered a shrimp fajita at $16.99 and I ordered a taco salad $10.99
Mark's came smoking hot.
The taco salad was loaded with meat.
It was more than I could eat so asked for a box. Tomorrow we will have leftovers. On the way home we stopped at our drive to check out the damage from last night. Someone went off the road during the night and clipped our address sign.
Only one of the numbers had been hit and it was only a little bent on the bottom.
The last time someone went off the road they sheared the post right off. Mark put up that old locust post and attached the numbers to that. Thankful there wasn't more damage. We could see dark clouds coming and rain was predicted so as soon as I changed into barn clothes went out to bring Dancer and Sheena back inside.
Dancer is not happy back in the stall now that she finished her grain. Sheena settled down right away and was glad for her grain. Neither mare is showing any signs of getting closer to delivery. My hope is by the time they are Dancer will be used to spending the night in a stall. I've been watching her on the monitor and she has been pacing while Sheena munches away. I know her hay is good hay, it is off the same square bale Sheena is eating on.  On the way back to the house from the barn the wind picked up and Evan was on high alert.
We had a beautiful double rainbow this evening. Anna had the best view as she could see both ends.
I could zoom in and get just one side of the intense color.
Below is the only video I could get as we have trees in the way.

What a glorious ending to a wonderful day.
