Wind advisory this morning with sustained winds of 40 mph and gusts around 45 mph. Yesterday the wind did more damage. The tree in the cabin pasture fell and took out part of the solar system. This was a huge tree. We stopped on our walk to check it out. Below Dancer and Mika are also checking it out.
Only one section of the solar system was damaged.
Crazy high winds. The temperature was 46 degrees but with the wind felt like it was below freezing and most of us walked with winter coats. After the walk I left for the Peoria post office to pick up the Berean mail and once home started calling the cardiologist to consolidate all the testing needed before the hip surgery to just one day. Thankfully all of them could be scheduled on May 18th but I will be there most of the day. The airbnb guest coming in for the 5th wheel on Friday needed to know if there were electrical outlets by the bed for her c-pac machine. I really didn't know so took the golf cart up to check that out. The wind was blowing so hard against the door I could hardly open it. I was pleased to be able to tell her there are outlets on both sides of the bed. Sure hope it warms up by Friday for this couple. They want to enjoy a fire as they star watch. Joan needed to be relieved at mom's today by noon so that was my next stop. Mom and I listed to Jeff Waibel speak in Elgin Sunday. That was such a good sermon. Click HERE if you would like to listen to it. Karin did her once a month shopping at Aldi today and spent over $200.00. Shocking how expensive groceries are becoming. When I got home from mom's a load of mulch was in the process of being dumped.
Mark got home right about that time and brought the tiller back. That just had bad gas in it so it was an easy repair.
He took it to the round pen to try it out but we will need to pull the panels off and use the big scraper first then finish it off with the tiller if it ever warms up enough to work the land.
3 loads of laundry needed to be done this evening as that didn't get done on Saturday. We had left over spaghetti for our dinner then Mark went back out to work. Rosaleigh was moved to the far pasture and will be left outside tonight. Thankfully the wind has died down. It is chilly but not raining and only supposed to drop down to 41 degrees. If she did deliver it would not be too cold. Lily and her filly were turned out into the big field from 6:30 am to just before noon. No pictures it was just to windy to want to stay out.
Now I never thought I would have to defend this but just to clarify we do NOT carry insurance on our horses and the deaths of Indy and Oksana were horrible for us but not an insurance scam. This was a really big blow to Horsemeister to lose these two mares. At this time we can't really replace them. Maybe we really are supposed to slow down and retire.
