Fight

We awoke to frantic neighing and a thundering of hooves. Throwing clothes on and rushing out the door I see a herd of horses galloping through the yard from the cabin and into the field. The golf cart was sitting outside the door which made it fast and easy to find out what had happened and it was not pretty. By the time I got to the field to find them there is Valiant and a bunch of mares with no Evan in sight. The golf cart was taken right down into the field, Valiant was grabbed and had obviously been in a fight, he was filled with kick marks and bites. He was taken right to the barn and stalled. Then with dread it was time to go search for Evan not knowing if he was hurt or even alive. I found him at the cabin pretty bit up but alive and no permanent damage done other than his bragging rights. He LOST!  What we can piece together is this: Ribbon smashed down a gate went over to tease Evan who broke through his fence. He thinks he is such a big bad stallion he ran over to challenge Valiant to a fight. Valiant crashed through his electric fence and either jumped or climbed over the people gate smashing that down took on Evan and WON.
The picture below is from this winter when they were still best friends.
All the play, fake fighting, nips turned into serious kicks and bites. Thankfully neither were hurt today.
Mark spent the morning replacing boards while I worked on the electric fence and moving horses until all was secure. We finished up by giving the middle paddock a new round bale and Emily's cows 3 wheelbarrow loads of good hay. Now we can get ready for church.
