We were up early but I didn't rush out to put the horses out, I could see on the monitor they still had plenty of hay and water. We had guests staying in the foaling apartment and I just didn't want to wake them up by the clip clop of hooves on the concrete right behind their bedroom. As it was Saturday there was no rushing to get things done before our walk. Finally at 6:30 am the horses were taken out to the outdoor arena to graze.
These two stick together like glue. They didn't even like each other at Middle Grove. Titus hung out with the Friesians and Aiken hung out with the Thoroughbreds but when we brought them in to the Hanna City farm they traveled together in the same horse trailer and now they are bonded. Of course that will change when Aiken FINALLY has her foal. She still shows no signs of getting ready for labor. the other mares were let into Evan's paddock to graze as theirs is needing a rest. There is plenty of grass, at least for a few days in that pasture. Above is Dancer and her colt, below is Blueberry's filly. This filly is the most friendly filly on the place. she adores attention and if she sees a human she is sure they are coming just to pet her.
Below is Rosalie's filly
Rosalie and her filly really are spectacular. I'm blessed to be able to care for them.
This morning the bathrooms at the barn were cleaned and restocked before I went up to scrub the game room floor for the second time. Mark wanted to mow the outdoor arena so Titus and Aiken were moved into the round pen.

When he finished the arena looked like a yard. Wendy arrived to pick up her mare Whiskey. That opens up a paddock which is much needed. We still have 4 mares at Middle Grove that need to come in for breeding. The barn needed the bedrooms locked off before the Sunday group comes. Now that the game room is clean of drywall dust, if they walk in the bedrooms they will spread drywall dust to the game room. Mark brought some wood to cut and then blocked each of the doors off by screwing that wood across each doorway.
We took those over to the barn and installed all 4 of them. While we were constructing something Mike was deconstructing. He was taking down lots of trees with his excavator.
When he was ready for a break Diane thought that was the perfect piece of equipment to take down the old Christmas lights on the big pine tree.
It started raining as Diane was up in the tree. I needed to get Sheena in a stall before her hoof bandage got wet so Sheena and her filly were taken to the stall barn. While there the other stalls were made ready for tonight then I went in to get my shower. Tonight was Tim Funk's appreciation dinner. Mark and I picked up mom at 4:30 pm and got to the fellowship hall in plenty of time to find seats. That was very well attended and the meal was amazing. Each dish was a delight to the taste buds.
There were 3 different desserts to choose from.
We all enjoyed the dinner. After dinner the tables were taken down and the chair set up for the program. That was a delight to the ears. We had 3 groups sing, then congregational singing, a short talk from Craig thanking Tim then Tim got up to speak. It was still raining by the time we drove home. I still needed to take mom home and help her get ready for bed, give Sheena her antibiotics and bring in the other two horses and got that all done by 9:15 pm. Sheena needed another wheel barrow full of hay and her water buckets filled. When I finally got to the house I went right to work on the video from tonight and tried to load it 2 different times but each time one file was corrupted. I'll have to try that again in the morning right now it is WAY past my bedtime!
