Below Emily is working with Evan on his canter and Rhoda was teaching Evan to jump. He is not a natural like Valiant but still learned how to get over the jump without knocking it down. Evan was very good today, no bucking at all.
Piper is stalled with an abscess, Sue, her owner, sent some iodine and Epsom salts which had to be mixed up and poured into her boot. Tomorrow we will remove the boot to see if the soaking helped.
We had a family drive down from the Chicago area to meet the Friesians. Below is Mike and Karin with their 4 very well behaved children.
They actually came down to look at Solomon but we brought both of the colts out. As long as they were willing to give leading lessons they may as well work both of the colts.
Both boys really enjoyed the attention and by the time they were ready to quit the colts were behaving like old pros. We so much appreciate when the young ones get handled by children and the colts so much appreciated the attention. The family decided to buy Solomon but we still need to work out transportation.
They also got to see all three stallions. Evan was brought out first and the girls got to ask him to go through his tricks.
Check out that happy smile!
Valiant was brought out next and Killian last. The new tractor arrived shortly after the company left.It was put in the barn until Mark came home from work. Karin arrived to work on the magic box for the spring show. Below she is finishing up putting the screws in on the inside of the box.
Now it will not fall apart each time we move it. Mark came home early enough to practice with the tractor. He took the bucket off and attached the bale spear then practiced taking bales off the top row and moving them around. It works great but the exhaust smell on the inside of the barn wasn't pleasant. I made a pot of chicken noodle soup for supper then we all headed to mom's to play Mexican Train with the dominos. Sarah won AGAIN!
