Playing Catch-Up

It was hard to roll out of bed this morning but that was managed at about 6:30 am. There was enough time to check the mares before the walk plus get some reading done.

Madiera's udder is big and swollen but not yet waxing.
We quit the walk early as Joan needed to leave by 8:00 am for co-op. I stayed with mom. John and Beth arrived for a visit. They are in town for a birthday party and will be here a couple of weeks. David Sauder arrived next with 2 pugs and Jack, his grandson.
Not too much later Rachel arrived with Jack and Brian. Brian was bringing great grandma a beautiful boquet of flowers they picked on the way over. The flowers were put in a vase on the kitchen table. While Rachel was here I ran back to the barn to get the tractor out. The gypsy mares were needing another bale. That was done in less than 10 minutes and when I got back to mom's house Diane had arrived. We shared lunch and stories about the trip. Diane stayed with mom while I ran to Aldi and picked up lots of veggies and chicken breasts for the Sunday meal. We will have chicken stir fry. Diane called to let me know Faith was staying with mom this afternoon. As I had some time I watched the Wednesday night service at the Fellowship Hall. David had that message. I actually laughed out loud during the first part of the message when David tried to change Gregg from happy to angry. We have never seen Gregg angry. It really was a relevant message about righteous anger and a Righteous Judge. Click HERE to watch that message. NOTE: this message stops a little too early but you will still get the concept.  Mark had some hamburger defrosting and wanted me to make calico beans with some of that hamburger but also wanted to grill some for his meals. He ended up grilling 6 hamburgers and ate one before I got home. Once the groceries were put away the calico beans were started. This is a really good recipe from Gail. It starts with browning a pound of hamburger, frying up a pound of bacon and one small onion. Then once drained adding 1 can of black beans, 1 can of white beans, 1 can of kidney beans and one can of baked beans. Then once mixed with the meat a half of a cup of brown sugar, a half of a cup of ketchup, 2 teaspoons of mustard and 1 table spoon of vineger. It was poured into a pan and baked at 350 degrees Farhenheit for 45 minutes but didn't seem to be quite done so put back in the oven for another 15 minutes. Mom called as we were tasting it. A bowlful was scooped up to take over to mom's for her dinner. I left there when Joan arrived around 6:30 pm. She was not able to get everything done today so will need some time tomorrow to fniish. I'm really needing to go to bed early again. It is hard to catch up with sleep deficit.
