Need Sleep

I didn't sleep well last night and think I got only about 3 hours. Today was going to be hard so I was standing by the coffee maker waiting for it to finish when it started spitting coffee all over the counter. The pot was in correctly but for some reason the reservoir where the grounds are put was full of hot water and grounds and would not drip into the pot. I was able to salvage a cup then poured the rest into a pan to try to remove the grounds to make it drinkable. Not a good start. I left for the walk but Mark went with Spark to the church as there was a power outage. Mark got back about the same time I finished up with our guests that had come in late last night. They wanted to meet the horses. They left around 10:00 am, Anna came to clean the apartment and get it ready for the guests coming in today. Madiera is now in her foal heat but since she has a foal by her side I had to give her filly a haltering tying lesson. She stood well for the haltering.

She did not do so well with the tying lesson. I was afraid she would hurt herself by throwing herself back and even throwing herself on the ground so asked Mark to come help. I had him stand behind her while Evan was brought over to the breeding stand. He got the job done and Mark took the halter off of the filly but instead of waiting for me to open the gate she jumped through the fence and broke down a board.  I'll have to figure out something new for tomorrow. Next it was Harli's turn to tease. Today it is 24 days since her last cover. She was not at all interested in Valiant.
Hopefully she settled and if she did she would be due Aug 5th, 2026. I'll still keep trying her. I was very pleased with her today, she didn't run at all from me in the paddock and I was not carrying any treats. She was tied up and the tail wrap taken off.

At 3:40 pm Mark came in to get ready to leave for Marie Hohulin's visitation. I went over to mom's at 4:00 pm so she could come with us. On our way to the visitation we got a text that Rachel's husband David was having chest pains. She took him to Baldwin county urgent care. They did an EKG, took some blood and then sent him to the hospital by ambulance. Rachel will update us when she gets more information but we are all praying for both of them and asking for prayers. We got to the funeral home about 15 minutes before the visitation was to start and were able to go through the line without a long wait. From there we went to the Bartonville Diner for our supper. Mom ordered the senior walleye, I ordered the liver and onion and Mark ordered a gyro wrap.  Mom got the chicken soup and a baked potato to go with her fish.

Mark and I both ordered salads with our meal. We took home both baked potatoes, half of the soup and an entire walleye fillet. Joan was still gone when we got home. Berlica brought in a couple kittens and mom had them on her lap until they started crying for their mama.
They are pretty cute. I left for home just as Joan was driving in. It has been a long day and I need to sleep.
