Checking On the Foals

I went out early to let Madiera and Missy out of the stalls. Madiera isn't due until the 14th but with wax showing on her teats it she could deliver anytime now. They were both glad to get back out in the field. I had time to clean both stalls before needed to be at mom's for our walk.  On our walk this morning we had to stop and admire Diane's new parking lot.
It really is the base for their barn but Diane is convinced this will hold the tractors, jeep, truck and the rest of Mike's 'tools'. She measured all of his equipment then told Mike he needed to build it bigger as she wants all of that equipment inside and out of sight.  The cabin field now looks amazing. The clumps of straw still need to be spread on top of all the grass seed, but the slope going down to the woods is going to make an awesome sledding hill.
When we reached the dam we stopped to check out the new gravel around her pond with the new sledding hill in the background.

After the walk I needed to get the barn kitchen cleaned up. I had lots of dishes to put away and the fridge to clean out. I had to quit at 8:45 am so I had time to clean up before the cardiologist appointment. I didn't get any answers there but they took my blood (after a few sticks in the arms and hands) then told me I would get a call in a few days. The Berean treat for tomorrow was picked up on the way back. This afternoon Madiera was checked on. She is looking very big and uncomfortable.
Praying for a safe delivery and a healthy foal soon. We have a big poke berry plant growing in the trunk of the maple tree that fell in sections last year. The berries are poisonous for us humans and animals but birds love them.
Right now we have some bright yellow marigolds blooming by our patio which brightens up the place.
I waited until 7:45 pm to bring in a couple wheelbarrow loads of hay for the two stalls needed tonight and also brought in a bale of straw for Madiera's stall. That was spread on top of the bedding so if she does have her foal tonight the straw will help keep dust out of the foal's airways.  Madiera and Missy were brought into the stalls just as it was getting dark out. They both settled right in and started eating the hay. I have them on the monitor. Looks like I'm back to stall cleaning. Ruth and Fedi are camping at Middle Grove today and tomorrow. Mike and Diane went out to check the mares and foals and sent back the video below. We have 4 foals out there. First Mike is checking out Shadow, Sheena's filly by Evan. Dancer approaches Mike with Disco, her colt, following.  Roseberry is demanding attention from Diane. I caught just a glimpse of Rosalie's filly Dahlia, in the background.
