A LONG Day

Right after it turned light out today Madiera and her filly were put out into a paddock. The filly did well with nursing all night. I think she will be fine. She is pictured right after going outside for the first time in her young day old life.

I left them, got the stall cleaned then went over to mom's. Diane, Mike, Rachel and David are all on their way to Gulf Shores while Spark and Rhonda are on their way to Missouri. I left for Sam's club right after breakfast and picked up 10 pounds of hamburger, taco seasoning, corn chips, peppers and onions for our Sunday meal along with some cream and coffee as both of those are running low at home. I dropped off a chicken at mom's house and asked her then if she would like to go to see Dan's new house. He bought one of those CAVE houses. Dan arrived around 10:30 am. Joan, mom, Mark and I drove to Washington, IL with Dan to check out this unusual house. It is 4 bedroom, 2 bath and has a room in the house with a built in hot tub. The house is a true bunker built almost entirely of 10 inch thick cement.
Above we are discussing the counter top which is in perfect shape and below is the built in hot tub.
The kitchen has a table built into the counter that holds 3 chairs. There are electrical outlets and lights all over inside the house.
It also has a sunk in living room. The fire place has a blower that blows hot air into the back bedrooms as well as the living area.
I think it is about 2000 square feet inside and has a huge garage with a wood burner that can heat the entire area. The garage opens to the hot tub room too. He is not sure if he should furnish it then airbnb the house OR rent it monthly. There are pros and cons to both. There is another room that could easily be made into a bedroom and we recommended adding another bathroom in the garage and making that into a rec room. If it was 5 bedrooms and 3 baths I think it would be a wonderful airbnb. Just curious if anyone else thinks that is a good idea.  We got back around 1:00 pm and it was getting hot. The new filly was panting while laying next to the fence.
She jumped up and was ready to nurse.
They were taken back into the stall to cool down and left there until after church.  Below are a few pictures of the filly I'll also use for the Horsemeister website. She has such long legs and is filling out well.

She is very curious. Above she is checking out the hay feeder and below she is checking out the water bucket.
Once they were situated I left for Middle Grove to check on Leah. I was disappointed to see that she is not pregnant.
We bought her in 2023 as she was supposed to be pregnant, she wasn't then in 2024 had a still born filly and now in 2025 no foal. While out there pictures of Disco were taken. He is a 7/8ths Friesian 1/8th Thoroughbred colt born May 5th.
He is for sale $7500.00. He will be tall and have lots of hair.
He has wonderful conformation and will look exactly like that fantasy Friesian without the huge price. The next picture is of Shadow, Sheena's filly. This filly was born May 10th. She is half Friesian and half Thoroughbred and Mike would like to keep her.
The last filly pictured is Dahlia, Rosalie's filly by Evan born April 4th, 2025.
Dahlia is 7/8ths Friesian 1/8th Warmblood. She should end up around 16.3 or 17 hands and is for sale $7500.00.
I didn't get a picture of Roseberry, Blueberry's filly by Valiant as I heard the mares tasting my car and took off running.
I got home in time to give Mark a hair cut, clean up the kitchen and get the dishes done, clean out Mark's car and get 2 of my folding tables loaded into that before getting ready for church. The tables were for Maria as she wanted to have a garage sale on Saturday. Mike Kaisner had tonight's message. After church Maria explained she didn't need the tables as she was going to be at Chuck Hemmer's funeral at church on Saturday instead of holding a garage sale. We went to Culvers after church and didn't get home until 9:30 pm. As soon as I changed out of my Sunday clothes I went back up to the barn to let Madiera and her filly back outside into the paddock. It was a long day and I'm really ready for bed.
