Easier

The laundry was started early this morning. I only had 2 loads and by the time of our walk the last load was in the washer. Madiera and her filly were not in the paddock this morning and I couldn't see them in the pond pasture so decided to take the golf cart into that pasture to find them. Just after the gate was opened I saw them. They were lounging in the shade. I left them and went to meet Ruth and Joan on the walk. Today Joan showed us the tree where the kittens were found. It is a big very old locust tree that is hollowed out. The entrance is about 3 foot up off the ground. Below Joan is shining her flash light into the hole.

Ruth was amazed at how deep and large the hole is. Plenty big for a perfect den to raise a family.
As Joan wants the kittens tame and used to being handled they were moved into a box in mom's garage and are doing well. Lots of kids got to hold them yesterday as Sunday there was a lot of family over for meals, games and playground fun.  Right after the walk I left for the Peoria post office to pick up the Berean mail. Skip and Pat will be gone the next 5 weeks. Pat has treatment scheduled in Zion, IL and of course Skip will be with her. After picking up the mail I drove straight to Sam's and picked up a pecan pie for the Berean volunteers tomorrow then to the Berean office to drop off the mail and the pie. Once home a bale needed to be moved into the mare paddock so they were let into the back pasture. Madiera and her filly were put in stallion pasture next to them. She was letting me know she is ready to be with the other 3 mares but I couldn't watch them so just left them so she could graze close to them but not with them.
Mark came out just as the bale was being moved and asked for some help with the garage so once the tractor was put away I went to help him hold the board in place until he got it measured, trimmed and screwed into place.
By 11:30 am it was getting too hot outside so Madiera and her filly were taken into a stall and the fan turned on. Mark went to Bloomington today to try out one of those self driving Teslas. He was the only one that signed up for the class so got individual attention and got to drive it for about 45 around the Bloomington area. Mark said he hardly touched the steering wheel. He said it was really amazing. They had barricades set up at a shopping center and the car did perfectly. Some day he is determined to have one. While he was gone I listened to AC Central. I talked to Ron Kipfer at Chuck's funeral and mentioned I missed his preaching. He told me that he spoke in South Bend this July and sure enough it was on AC Central. How thankful I am for that service. Supper tonight was left overs re-made into nachos supreme.
After supper it had cooled down enough that it was time to open up both gates and let the mares graze together. That went well. The mares were curious but left enough room for Madiera to feel safe.

She kept a careful eye on her filly and after about 10 minutes I felt they could be safely left together. That makes my life much easier. Evan loves having the mares in his pasture. Even though he is locked into his paddock, he can reach over the fence and visit with them. Below he is admiring Jewel.
Life just got easier with them all together.
