Friday At Mom's

Another hard night but hopefully the last. By the time I got back from the walk Mark was just pulling up with the new antibiotic prescription. This one was not cheap, it cost $25.00 for 28 pills. I have to take 2 a day for the next 2 weeks. My dad used to quote, "Yeah all will a man pay for his skin!" when we had to pay big bucks for health care. That was a take off of Job 2:4 So Satan answered the LORD and said, “Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life.  I ran up to the horses before heading to the dumpster to check on the middle paddock. The mares were finishing up the bale we put in a few days ago but there was still so much on the ground I won't add a bale until tomorrow. Titus was sniffing Madiera's colt. He backed off when Madiera pinned her ears at him. I love how the mares teach the yearlings herd manners.

Heather, Sean and Elly left for home after the walk.  Amy and I spent the day with mom. Ruth was on call and came at noon to eat lunch with us.  Amy baked 2 loaves of rhubarb bread, one with pecans and one without. She made a delicious salad with lots of veggies, we served that with Kathy's chicken and noodle dish and oriental slaw salad. Some of Tara's fruit was also added to the meal. By the time we were done passing dishes the plates were full.
After lunch it had warmed up enough that we went out on the deck to warm up and watch the birds. Amy mixed up more hummingbird food and was able to use baling twine to tie it to the post.  I filled the feeder. While we were sitting talking a red winged black bird came, filled her beak then flew up to the top where her baby had flown and proceeded to feed the baby. That poor mom was working hard and meanwhile the baby would fly around following the mom begging.

Below is a short video:
Mom soon was ready to go back inside. When Karin arrived Amy and I went over to Diane and Mike's cabin. Diane had been working on it so we drove up to see the almost finished project.
The bench is actually from the original Green Street AC Church.
The magazine racks are from the back of the benches for the hymnals. Mike took them off the bench and put them on the wall.
He told us the story of the magazine cover posted below:
That is THIS cabin with Raven our original stallion pictured behind the gun. Mike's brother in law submitted the picture and we were pretty excited when his picture was chosen.  The National Geographic magazines in the picture below were bought during Marilyn's house sale.
There are lots more of them but Mackenson has permission to borrow any and as much at a time, then he brings them back and takes more. That boy loves that magazine.
All the mounted deer came from Middle Grove and were all bow shot by Mike's son Andrew. That is tack hanging on the wall left of the door. Lots of saddles, bridles and helmets.

When dad had the Russian's come they asked Mike if he would take them riding. Alexander, the high up in government official that came, gave Mike his hat (pictured under the television) when he came back from the ride alive.
I got home before 3:00 pm, Mark was here working. I separated the laundry, he started a load, I sat down and fell sound asleep not waking until it was time to start dinner. Tonight he wanted the asparagus and Chinese food Tara gave us and a hamburger. As tomorrow the kids will be laying flooring Mark used the concrete scrubber and scrubbed down the floors in the barn. Hope that goes well.  Stephanie sent the picture below:
She wrote:  I forgot to show you this.. Elisabet helped make your pistachio cream pie from start to finish! How cool is THAT. We will be serving that pie along with the rest of Stephanie's Enchilada dinner to the workers tomorrow.
This evening AC Central was turned on and I listened to Craig Stickling speak in Goodfield on Wednesday. When he finished the next person up made the comment no one was ready for Craig to stop.  That is the way we feel in Peoria so I completely understood him.
