The trip in was kind of a nightmare but church was so worth it. Ken Hoerr had a very special service, his retirement service. All I can say was there were many tears shed. Tim Funk announced that the afternoon service would be cancelled but no one was in a hurry to leave after lunch. By the time Rhoda and I got out of church the parking lot looked like it had not been plowed and the cars were covered with probably a good 4 inches of snow. The wind was blowing it back on to the car as soon as I could shovel it off. We were able to get out of the church parking lot but the roads weren't that much better. At one point the snow was coming so hard sideways we were in a complete white out. Thankfully there was very little traffic on the way home.

White Out
We awoke to 6-8 inches on the ground, snow still coming down hard and blowing sideways. Mark got busy plowing with the tractor while Mike was plowing with the skid steer. Church was not cancelled so mom was called to tell her we were going to have to pick her up early for the trip in but she shockingly told us she wasn't going. We say shockingly because there isn't much that would keep mom home, dad always called her the go go girl. Rhoda needed to go as she is a Sunday school teacher and it was her turn to teach so I offered to drive my car in, it has the best snow tires. Rhoda took the picture below as we were driving on the interstate, we were the only car on the road. AT least we could SEE the road on the way there.

We made it to our drive but could not make it up the drive. The driveway looked like no one had plowed it yet we knew it had been done. We made it about half way up the hill and had to back all the way down to try the second drive. This one took a couple of tries and I really would have made it but there was a horse in the way with a sled being pulled behind it stopped right in the road. Karin had Ribbon tacked up with a Western saddle giving sled rides. At that point I got out of the car and started walking. David Jacob was able to back the car enough to get a run at it and got it to the house driveway. Mark is out plowing again and the snow is still coming down.
