Rhoda's Birthday

Brrr it was cold this morning, we awoke to -3 degrees. Thankfully Mark kept the fire going all night. The phone rang around 6:30 am and I was sure it was the transport company that was suppose to pick up Piper at 7:00 am to tell us something like the truck won't start but it was mom to tell me Rebekah was in the hospital in the process of delivering their son. This is Ruth's first grand child pictured with his parents Brian and Rebekah Schwind.

They named him Jordan Peter. Congratulations Ruth & Fedi on your first grandson and congratulations Brian and Rebekah on your beautiful baby boy.
The transport company arrived around 7:30 am. Piper was loaded and on the way and Emily and I practically ran back to the house frozen. Just a few minutes outside was torture. The wind just bit right through our coats, throwing hard pellets of snow stinging into our faces.
I took the picture above from the porch as Piper was being driven down the lane.
So funny we all look forward to snow in December. It comes soft, wet and fluffy, fun for building snowmen, forts and making snow angels. Riding in December snow is fun. The frozen hard stinging January snow is just miserable and we have more on the way with actual temperatures suppose to drop to 18 degrees BELOW zero with windchills around 40 BELOW by Monday. Not sure yet what we are going to do with the horses.
As today is Rhoda's birthday I took Rhoda, Sarah and Emily shopping. We shopped for what seemed like hours and found all kinds of bargains. The 3 stores we hit were Mission Mart, Good Will and Salvation Army. All 4 of us found treasures. We quit shopping around 1:00 pm stopping at Flat Top Grill for lunch.
After lunch Emily needed to pack for her trip to Mexico tomorrow. She tried on a few of the items she bought today modeling them for us before packing them away.

Rhoda's hair was glowing in the lamplight so that it looked like spun gold. In the picture below she is getting ready to fix Sarah's hair.
Even Darcy got a treasure on this shopping trip. Darcy loves stuffed animals. She was holding it between her feet then softly chews it with her big mouth.

On the way back to the house I snapped this picture of Ribbon. She came back from Middle Grove in wonderful shape. Toned and muscular.
