Spreading Manure

The morning was cool and spitting a bit of rain so instead of mowing or moving manure Emily worked Killian and reported he did WONDERFUL! She is so enthused about him. He was able to hold a 20 meter canter circle easily. He is so balanced for a 2 year old. He did nothing wrong today at all. When Rhoda arrived they took Indy and Ayanna on the death trails here at the Horsemeister farm. Those two mares are willingly going through the creeks, over ditches and galloping the fields when asked. Indy can really move and is much faster than Ayanna.
We had a very busy day at Bereans, so many studies came in we didn't get done by lunch time and by the time we arrived at Denny's Spark, Dan and Mike Meister had already ordered and were waiting for us. Diane drove separate as she was leaving from there to go garage saling in Morton. Rhonda and Gail, 2 of the jail ladies joined us for lunch. We thought it was really nice they got out of jail just in time for lunch. Rhonda is Spark's wife and Gail is Marvin Hodel's wife and both of these ladies are volunteers at the Peoria County Jail on Tuesdays.  There were 10 of us for lunch and the conversations all going on at once were a little loud.
By the time I arrived home a storm was brewing with the constant grumbling of distant thunder and then wind but no real rain to speak of. A bunch of big branches blew off one of the trees. Darcy and Emma went out to clean up the debris.
Below is Darcy the Branch Manager at Horsemeister:
Her assistant Branch Manager is Emma.
Emma needed a bit of instruction by Darcy on the correct way to carry the branches.

By working together it didn't take long for these 2 girls to get the yard cleaned up and ready to mow.
Rhoda and Emily went garage saling with Rachel and both came home with some treasures. Those 2 girls stopped at Walmart and bought supplies to make Kabobs for dinner then prepared the skewers. After dinner it was time to work. Mark got on the skid steer, Rhoda and Emily got on the big tractor and I got on the mower. By dark the place was mowed and more than half of the manure pile moved.

When they were driving by Lola's paddock they saw her colt climb to the top of the hay pile in the shelter and make himself a comfortable bed. He's no dummy!
Emma had rolled in the manure pile and had to have a bath before letting her in the house. Rhoda and Emily shampooed her over by the barn using the hose to rinse her well as another storm started blowing in. The constant lightning flashing in the West was entertaining. We finally came in for ice cream. Thankful for a good productive day!
