Too Wet, Too Cold
It rained off and on pretty much all day, not a nice warm rain, today is cold, highs only in the 40s. Steven arrived with his Monster Truck around 1:00pm and off we went to Circle Double D for the round bale ring they offered to sell us for $75.00.
It wasn't easy fitting it in the back of Steven's truck without taking it apart but we were able to roll it up onto the bed and tie it off with baling twine. We were kind of in a time crunch, needing to get 3 mares teased, 2 mares covered, 6 horses loaded along with all the supplies we need for the Spoon River Drive. It all went like clockwork other than the trailer falling off of the blocks. Sangria and her colt were hauled out to Middle Grove along with Jewel and her filly, Indy and Killian. Sangria is still in season but we don't care of she settles or not so covered her with Valiant and loaded her up. Bunni and Sally are now in season and can be covered tomorrow. Holly may be coming in. Once we reached Middle Grove the horses there were all up at the gate looking forward to visitors. They could hardly wait to see who was in the trailer, all crowding the gate. We were smart today, haltering and leading out Paris & Ella before unloading the mares with foals. Once the 2 mares with foals were out, the herd started galloping around welcoming them. It was very tempting to stay and watch but the wind was fierce. On the way to the Old School Center we got caught by the Farmington High-school Homecoming parade. Traffic was at a crawl for blocks. By the time we reached the Old School Center we practically ran the 2 ponies into their paddock, threw them a bale of hay and unloaded the saddles, stand, buckets, wheelbarrow, mounting block and sign as fast as we could. Steven's student was at the farm waiting for her lesson by the time we made it back but at least we were only a few minutes late. By this time it was after 4:00pm and I still hadn't had lunch. Suffice it to say, dinner was very welcome tonight. After dinner Mark wanted to start moving furniture into the farm house. He is so anxious to move. We hauled over the high chair, an office chair, the bench, his old school desk and 4 of the 12 wood chairs for the dining room table. We moved the blue recliner from the storage area into the apartment as our 2 rocker recliners will be moved to the house. It is now after 8:00pm and I'm ready to sit down with a good book.
