Hard Night
At 11:30pm Darcy insists she must go outside, the apartment is pitch black and silent other than the whining dog. Stumbling around to find a light and it doesn't work, the electricity is down. Once Darcy is back inside and I crawl under the nice warm comforter Mark awakes. He is told we have no electricity, gets up and walks outside to see that mom's house and Sparks house has it. He heads out to the barn to find all the breakers turned off, turns them on walks down to the house and sees all is well there comes inside and informs me there are 2 horses loose walking around, a black one and a white one. The only gray horse we have is Sangria and she has a colt by her side plus is in season and if left loose will entice the boys to break out. Hurridly the clothes were thrown on and out the door to see Sangria right where she belongs. It was Ciera and Holly loose. Ciera is grazing quietly by the side of the drive and is glad to come trotting up when she see's a human, Holly on the other hand is standing next to the boy's paddock squealing and kicking. Ciera was put in the middle paddock as I dont want to take the time to check for a fence down and don't want her right back out. Calmly approach Holly just praying she will not run. That was too much to hope for and off she takes down the drive toward the road. Since the hip has been replaced I'm not a fast runner, in fact it's pretty pathetic how slow I am when im in a hurry so it was slow going following this errant mare. She would stop to graze so I was able to get behind her and slowly herd her back home, finally she ran into the field. The gate was shut and into a warm inviting bed once again. Two hours later Emma insists she must go out, Darcy was made to join her, enough is enough! By 5:00am Heidi is slamming against our door asking to come in. She wanted us to know she survived the storm, unfortunately she still smells like skunk and stunk up the apartment before we could get her outside. Mom is coming home today, hope her sense of smell is bad.
