I pulled out at 7:15 am to pick up the two new Gypsy mares for our herd. We had been wanting to replace Irish the Gypsy we lost June 18th, 2024. We were hoping Irish would have a filly for us to keep but the last 3 were colts. We really do miss her. She is pictured below with Berlica a few days before she died.
Today I was able to bring home Harli Quin an 8 year old purebred Gypsy Vanner and her 2 year old daughter Silver Moon (barn name Izzy). It was a 6 hour uneventful round trip going to a barn up near Chicago. The pictures below were taken once the horses were home. Harli was unloaded first and tied then Izzy. Both loaded well. Izzy wasn't happy in the trailer by herself once Harli was taken out but stood quietly while unhooking the trailer tie.Below is Harli.
She has an abundance of mane, tail and feather.
She was put in the paddock and her halter removed.
Check out that flying feather as she trots.
WOW look at that TAIL!
Harli has the black tail while Izzy has the white tail.
She had to check everything out as I was taking pictures of Izzy.
Izzy is more of a bay and white with a black face and black in her tail.
They both were glad to find the hay bale in the paddock and went right to eating.
Once I was sure they were ok I went down to the house to make breakfast. By this time it was after 2:00 pm and I had not eaten anything since dinner last night. Beth gave me some vine ripened tomatoes from Gail so I made my favorite breakfast which was peeled, sliced tomato added to scrambled eggs. Once satisfied I left for mom's house. Joan needed to pick up Faith's car then go clean the shop. The surprise lilies are blooming beautifully all over mom's yard.
Mom, Uncle Johnny and Aunt Mary Lou were out on the deck enjoying the breeze. Ruth was there with Anni and Matt's 2 boys Dexter and Harvey. Ruth left taking the boys, Joan left taking Faith, Mackenson and Berlica and mom decided to come in out of the heat and rest in her recliner. Uncle Johnny soon followed. Sarah arrived with Zion, Eden and River to see the new Gypsy ponies.
It was too hot to ride Missy so they came swimming instead. The water is refreshingly cool.
When Joan got home I left to boil the corn on the cob from the Giant Goose Ranch Beth brought yesterday. That was delicious. Even though I didn't do a lot of physical labor today I'm really tired and will have an early night.
