We were up at 4:30 am and after a couple cups of coffee packed our suitcase and were on our way to church to meet the other 4 couples going. This trip was more relaxed than our usual trips. We stopped at the Wally's gas station to fill up the van in Missouri to get the cheaper gas tax rate then were back on the road for about an hour and a half stopping at the famous Missouri Hicks bbq.
The food was good. We had about 2 hours left and pulled in to our hotel around 4:30 pm. Once we were finally in our rooms we decided to go to the college for our meal and home made ice-cream. We arrived to find the grounds were beautiful, the entire campus is gorgeous!
Life is short when you are really old so of course we started with dessert. There were all kinds of flavors to try. A single scoop came to $5.05.
Kathy put our name in at the restaurant and at 6:30 pm we had a 15 minute wait. That was very elegant. We were seated about 6:45 pm but this is elegant dining and it was almost 8:00 pm by the time we got our food. They gave us some delicous cranberry biscuits and some home baked bread. These came with 3 types of butter, a strawberry butter, apple butter and regular butter. Mark and I ordered a chicken sandwich to split $16.00 and a bowl of beef mushroom soup $8.00. Both were excellent. Our hotel has a dessert bar that starts at 9:30 pm and of course we needed to be back in time for that. I walked down to check it out and it wasn't worth the time to walk to it. There was a hot apple cobbler, some cups of ice cream (the kind the Sunday school picnic used to give out) and a few cookies. Kind of makes me think breakfast is not going to be very good.
Sarah sent a couple pictures from home. Berlica was giving trail rides.
Berlica was busy and so were Jewel and Missy. I'm so pleased Berlica is willing to take over the trail rides.
