Company

Today was the work day Joan's children gave her for Mother's day and she needed the day off. I arrived at mom's about 7:15 am. She was making a huge and I mean HUGE pan full of sausage gravy and already had large cookie sheets full of biscuits to serve everyone. All had arrived last night and spent the night. After feeding everyone last night she went over to her van, found the queen bee, got her contained then moved the bee box to the back of her van and left the hatch open. She explained almost all the bees were in the box. I was able to get the video of her on her drive home with the swarm inside the van.

She sure is learning a lot about bees. Mom and I had a relaxing morning. The lake was so calm. William and Joshua were out fishing early this morning before breakfast.
I took the picture above as I was filling the bird feeder. All was quiet and just one canoe out on the lake. Diane came before noon. I left to hook up the horse trailer, move it out and and clean it out.
I'm leaving early Monday morning to check out a couple mares and didn't want to clean it on Sunday or miss the walk on Monday. Sarah and Nolan's family arrived. Sarah had to walk across the pond pasture to find Cookie. The first to ride was Zion. She is the 'real' horse lover of this family. Sarah says she asks just about everyday to come.
I didn't stick around as I had a pretty full day planned. I walked on the way back from the round pen to the house so Nolan could use the golf cart for the kids. That turned out great, I found an ear of corn that must have dropped off the golf cart yesterday. The kernels were removed and added to our dinner tonight which was Korean BBQ,
Dinner was done before 5:00 pm and it really was delicious. I added all kinds of veggies, shrimp for Mark, Kielbasa, deboned the last of the chicken from Costco and then noodles.
That is sautéed with olive oil and soy sauce.
After supper, the kitchen was cleaned up then Sunday dinner started. 2 cakes were mixed up and put in the oven. While that was baking the chicken breasts were cut into chunks then drizzled with olive oil then covered with parmesan cheese.
The cakes were pulled out of the oven to cool.
They look ugly now but will be frosted tomorrow and taste great.
The chicken was put in the fridge then everything cleaned up again before starting on the peppers.
Those too were put in the fridge. Mark came into the kitchen as I was cleaning up and asked why I wasn't adding onions. I explained those will need to be done tomorrow as those will stink up the fridge. He didn't agree and thought there was no reason why I shouldn't do them now if they were covered well. I finally had to explain nicely for him to stop telling me how to cook and get out of the kitchen. Probably a pride thing on my account I could have been nicer. He looked it up on AI and explained AI says I could have cut them up today. What SAY the rest of you? It really was more in fun just so you all don't think I need to go to marriage counseling. I left as soon as the kitchen was done to go to mom's so Ruth could go home. Willian and Joshua were over on Rachel's dock fishing this evening. Check out their catches.

Karin, Jackie, John and Beth made it to Florida. Karin sent the picture below of Beth and John enjoying the pool area.
She video called mom and I to show us around the condo and told us they were wondering why it was so cheap and found out when they arrived. The place was filthy. They were so thankful Beth and John came down with them as she, Jackie and Beth worked for hours scrubbing everything. When she called she was pleased. The condo is in a gated community with quite a few pools, beautifully landscaped. Their living room deck over looks one of the lakes. She explained there is no swimming in the lakes, evidently alligators live there.
Joan's party didn't end until midnight. She made it over with maybe 3 dozen eggs, a big bag of hashbrowns and other ingredients and was going to make breakfast casseroles yet tonight for tomorrow morning. Where does she get her energy? I left for home at 12:15 am and was in bed by 12:20.
