Productive Day

We were up at 5:00 and by 6:00 working. For some reason I've been too busy to keep up with the house cleaning. Well the reality is I'd much rather be working outside than inside but when Rhoda made the comment Monday that we really need to hire a cleaning lady I knew it was time. The kitchen and bathroom were given a stove job, meaning every inch was scrubbed. I quit at 9:30 and took the truck and trailer to Middle Grove to pick up Lily and her colt first driving in the summer pasture up to the round pen. No horses were in sight so I took the back way to the original pasture and had just started hiking when the sound of the 4 wheeler broke the silence. Mike had just finished searching that pasture and reported they weren't there and must be in the winter pasture. The truck and trailer were taken back to the winter pasture by the road. Mike took the 4 wheeler straight up the hill and found some of the horses at the top under the trees. Lily was with this group. I hiked up with the halter and her colt followed her down to the trailer. It takes two to get Lily and her colt in because Lily is nervous in the smaller trailer and tries to back out even when tied. She breaks more halters that way but Mike stood behind her encouraging her to stay while I slipped out and shut the door. They were put in the pasture behind Ribbon's paddock and locked in there while a bale was moved in there. Indy, her colt, Oksana, and her colt were moved in with Lily then the back gate opened. The next job was to move a bale in for Valiant. Both of the stallions are looking good. They have been getting extra grain as both have been so busy this summer.
The farmer arrived to cut the hay this afternoon.
Thankfully we missed the predicted rain completely, in fact the sun came out just as he finished mowing. We have beautiful weather predicted for all of next week. Surely should get this hay up dry. Speaking of hay Mike was able to buy 88 huge round bales right across the street from the Middle Grove summer pasture AND the farmer there is going to deliver them for us.
Those 88 bales stretched a LONG way.
Mike already had over 30 bales from his fields there so we should have plenty at Middle Grove and depending on how much we get on this second cutting may only need 30 or 40 bales more for here. I always feel so rich when we have the hay in the barn for the winter. After lunch Mark and I got the fork lift attachment on the tractor and started loading landscape blocks. Each pallet is a ton, literally 2000 pounds and we had two left here that needed to be moved to Joan's and the pallets they were on had rotted through so each had to be lifted and loaded on a new pallet then driven over. After a couple loads we quit and decided the bucket on the tractor would be easier so Monday will keep working on that. Later the ground beef was browned for dinner tomorrow which will be lasagna. Not because we are announcing anything but because it is a simple meal to make and serve AND Addyson likes it. Matt and Anni made it home from their trip, Matt needed the post hole pounder and a couple t post to fix mom's front fence. Anni was busy dusting for mom when I got there the pounder and posts. The wheelchair mom borrowed from Beth's mom was put in the back of her car. Tomorrow for church we will drive her car as it will be easier for her to get in. I just heated up soup for dinner. It was a good productive day.
