SOLD!

At 6:00 am I went out to clean the dropped placenta out of Marika's stall. I noticed on the monitor at 12:30 am that she had dropped the placenta and the colt was nursing well but was just too tired to go get it then. Once Marika's stall was cleaned and she was watered and fed, Serenity was loaded up in the Eclipse trailer and off I drove to Michigan to meet her owner stopping first in Towanda to pick up Rhoda.  We had a good trip both Kathy and us arriving within minutes of each other at the meeting place.
As we were driving we got a message from the man who bought Lily's colt.  He originally wanted Marika's but someone else wanted hers if it was a filly. Andres was convinced Marika's would be a filly and didn't want to miss out so made the decision to buy Lily's colt as soon as it was announced as he really really wanted a colt.
So Andres is now the owner of Marika's colt and Lily's colt is back up for sale.
Lily's colt is amazing, he is 75% Friesian and LOOKS so much like a purebred that Andres the man who bought him will have all the bragging rights without spending the big bucks for a purebred.

Rhoda and I stopped at Denny's in Michigan City on the way home for a late breakfast as neither of us took the time to eat this morning. For some reason when ever we are in a hurry the restaurant is not. Our food didn't arrive for almost 40 minutes and all we ordered was the original grand slam (two eggs, two sausage and 2 pancakes)  why I would have whipped that out within minutes.  We  gobbled it down and got up to pay when all the electricity went out in the entire block.  The lady taking our money was all upset about not being able to give us a receipt. We didn't care about that we were just glad we got fed before the electricity went out after waiting such a long time for breakfast.
I really wanted to be back by 3:00 pm as Brandee was bringing her mare Lilly here to be bred to Valiant at that time. I pulled in at 3:20 pm and saw that Brandee had not yet arrived. The truck and trailer were backed up out of the way and I was just getting out of the truck when Brandee, her husband, son and Lilly pulled in. Again perfect timing.  Lilly was teased but no show. She was put in the paddock next to Evan's.  Marika and her colt were checked and all is fine. He is nursing well. Mark had cleaned the stall and made sure she had hay and water. I'm sure thankful for husbands that are willing to step in and do what needs to be done.  I'm also very thankful for the new truck and Eclipse trailer. It was a breeze driving through that Chicago traffic with a powerful truck and a small trailer.
I'm pretty exhausted so will plan on taking pictures for the website of Marika's new colt tomorrow.
