Middle Grove

We has a cold 27 degrees with a brisk breeze for our walk this morning. It seems we are back to winter.  Joan was at mom's today. I drove to the Peoria post office to pick up the Berean mail then to the Berean office to drop that and the dessert off for tomorrow.  When I got home I turned on AC Central and watched Fred talk at Princeville. His talk was good but he commented on 3 controversial subjects and I'm not going to tell you what they were. If you want to find out for yourselves click HERE. If you do watch don't skip over the singing before the message, it really was beautiful. Now that the horse trailer was emptied of rubber mats I decided to take Blueberry and Sangria out to Middle Grove and bring back Rosalie who is due April 7th. plus I wanted to check on the mares.  Mike offered to go out to help if I would wait until 3:30 pm. We were going to try to drive back to the mares but it was much too muddy. We stopped just inside the gate. Below Mike is getting ready to unload the mares.

When they reached to top he let the mares go. The sun came out for just a few minutes.

Rosalie's udder is just starting to fill so she was haltered and led down to the gate. Dancer followed, Mike tied Rosalie and just then Blueberry and Sangria came galloping down to join us, kind of ran into Rosalie who was not standing tied very well with those mares galloping right at her, the lead rope stretched then ripped off the tree and off all 4 of them went galloping right back up the hill. Mike decided to park the truck and trailer back out on the road while I hiked up to get Rosalie. This time I stopped to take a few more pictures. Below is Jewel.
The next two are our riding horses, Cookie is pictured below and below her is Sally.

Irish and Jury are pictured below.
A snow squall started when I took Lily and Rosalie's picture. Can you see the snow flying?
Mike made it up the hill and took Rosalie this time all the way to the truck and trailer. Below is Rosalie and Dancer.
IT was much easier the second time as no horses followed us down. Amy was here when we got back to the farm. Mike showed us how Indy's colt is now picking up his hat each time he throws it down. Lily's filly sniffed it but Indy's colt is the one who picks it up each time.
The blue halter is Tessa, Rosaleigh's filly by Evan, the green halter is Indy's colt by Evan (he is not yet named) and the brown halter is Valerie, Lily's filly by Valiant.
The pictures are blurry because I was shivering and more than ready to head inside to warm up. Pretty cold for almost the middle of March. Mark is currently building a fire in the wood burner and I can't wait to warm up.
