Drop Off & Pick UP

We had a good walk this morning, a little confusing as we were trying to change the route to miss some of the traffic on the roads but still ended up having to scurry off the Sauder driveway. There are just so many vehicles coming from that house. We quit a little early today. I picked up Joan's 3 youngest and took them to the Berean office this morning. Faith and Berlica were put in charge of stamping the return address on envelopes while Mackenson was in charge of putting the non for profit stamp on envelopes.
As soon as we finished up with the Bible requests, we headed for McDonalds to eat breakfast and meet Joan. Beth just happened to be there so came in and joined us. We enjoyed the food and fellowship. My next job was to drive down to Meister's to pay the first of the month bills.  When I got back to the farm Rhoda was out on the trails riding Ayanna and ponying Rosaleigh. She said they ended up doing the trails forward and backwards as when they got to the field the farmer was combining the beans so she just turned around and went back the same way. This was excellent for Rosaleigh, this way she was crossing the creeks from a different direction. As soon as she got back we came in, warmed up with some hot tea then loaded up Ayanna and Rosalie and headed for Middle Grove. Ayanna and Rosalie were thrilled to be back and took off galloping up the hill.
They reached the herd and settled right down to graze. Jewel came up to greet them but they were too interested in the grass to even sniff a greeting.
Easter Bonnet is quick to come up for attention. She really loves people.
Hadassah and Foxy were curious. Speaking of Foxy, she does not look as fat as she did the last time I saw her right before having the surgery. I'm afraid she lost her foal. After I showed the pictures to Karin from Rhoda and my trip out there, she and I decided we should probably pick her up tomorrow after work to get her checked out. Unless it is raining.
Below is Eli, Eliza's orphaned colt. He is doing great. Sally is still nursing him but he spends a lot of time now with the other foals.
Rhoda had to walk pretty far to get Galena who was on the far side of the valley.
Anna was grazing near her and came on her own.
If you would like to see the rest of the Middle Grove pictures click HERE. We loaded up Anna and Bethany in the front of the trailer and Galena in the back and got back to Hanna City by 2:30 pm. All three horses were de-wormed with Strongid. Galena got a tube and a half though as she is such a big mare.   Karin arrived after work so she and Rhoda got Easter Lilly covered by Valiant. Next Karin wanted to give Galena a refresher and that was really funny to watch. Galena did NOT want to work and every time Karin would ask her to move forward she would try to buck. Now Galena is not very athletic and only gets a few inches off the ground each time. Below was her biggest buck, she had 3 legs off the ground all at once.
She finally realized Karin was not going to get off and she may as well just do what Karin was asking then trotted off nicely.
I was pretty cold by then so went in to warm up. Rhoda backed the trailer up, cleaned up the arena then left for the day. Karin worked with Anna until the rain started up. The temperatures have been below normal all week and that cold rain didn't help.
We had grilled cheese with sauteed mushrooms sandwiches along with pumpkin soup for supper tonight. It was another one of those meals from Home Chef. It was ok but missing the meat. Mark drove mom, me and Diane to church tonight. We had the elder from Rockville, CT visiting and he gave the message. It was exactly what we needed to hear even though we didn't WANT to hear. You know that part about loving your enemy. I'm thankful we hear the truth even when the truth hurts.
