What was amazing is that all 4 feet were hitting the ground, I forget how tall Valiant is until something like this happened. Mike was called to get the tools to get the gate off the hinges but before he got here I was able to get the chain unlatched and had Valiant walk forward enough to open the gate. He was able to slide off the edge with just a bit of panic. Then coming into the house I see both dogs running through the kitchen frantically chasing a bird knocking things off the table with their tails as they ran. The bird was rescued and let loose but I could sure do with less drama around here in the morning.
Rhoda and Emily worked on the trailer today taking all the mats out and hosing them and the horse area down well. The mats are now drying on the wood pile. Hopefully Mark will help us get them back into the trailer tomorrow.
Braelyn and Taegan came today, the girls were loaded onto the golf cart and we drove up to the barn to watch Rhoda and Emily working on the trailer when who should be up there looking at the horses but Faith, Ava and Aubrey. They jumped on the golf cart and off we went exploring the trails and fields. We came to one field quite far from the farm and saw a big fat adult fox hunting in the cornfield. The girls watched him run for the woods. The playground was the next stop where all of them had fun jumping on the tramp, playing in the sand and riding on the merry-go-round. Braelyn loves playing with the big kids. Needless to say both girls were very ready for a nap and both slept for hours. Faith came over for a riding lesson from Emily on Emily's pony Misty.
They make a cute pair. Misty is a registered Welsh section B foaled in 2005 the perfect age for a child. She is a beginner safe driving pony and very close to being beginner safe riding pony. Emily has her for sale for only $2000.00. Check out these driving videos of her, the first one Emily is asking Misty to rake the arena. In the second video Emily is showing off Misty's driving skills. This is a very well behaved pony with excellent ground manners. Below is a riding video of Misty:
Braelyn woke up and wanted a chance to ride Misty.
When Taegan woke up we took the golf cart up to the outdoor arena to watch Faith ride Misty at a walk and trot.
Check out her smile, I'd say she is loving her riding lessons on this pony! Phil arrived to pick up the girls so Emily, Sarah, Diane and I took the carts over to Emily's garden dropping off Sarah and Emily to weed and thin out the lettuce while Diane and I drove to the cabin to feed the mares in that field. When Emily got back from weeding the garden we teased and covered Ribbon with Valiant and Whisper with Evan. The rest of the evening was spent reading.
